Did I miss something? That penalty before the second czech goal was pretty obvious tripping, Finnish defender has put stick betwen Kovar's legs. Of course, it needs to be said, that there was very clear slashing during the PP but the Czech player was very sneaky when he did it. And Kontiola was without puck and almost checked Czech defenseman into his neck. I don't really see anything wrong about these calls. And please, don't bring nationality into this discussion, Czechs and Russians have very thorny relationship to say the least

I have no dog in this game but wow does this game look crooked. These calls are ridiculous, looks like IIHF have the Czech's advancing.

Czechs should have at least 2-3 penalties also, but who cares, hometeam always gets the benefit of doubt, nothing new, even less in iihf

OMG, you all complaining about penalty on Kovar should try to skate with stick between your legs. This is one of the 100% penalties..

No, I would call that a classic Czech dive (a tradition if anything) without it, no penalty, but well executed move certainly - the secret is in the timing and speed of the dramatic fall. I can understand embellishment but I would argue that this wasn't embellishing but inventing an obstruction out of thin air. About the Kontiola penalty, I think it was borderline (obviously not a penalty in the NHL), tough call either way.

edit: Oh yeah, and during the penalty there might have been a slash with the concequence of losing the stick - didn't see it myself but many claim that it was obvious.

Czechs had 7 players on ice. I wonder not why Jalonen wanted to change these refs before the game. This can be the last IIHF torunament that I will watch.

Totally agreed. Ridiculous whining in there.

Stop the whining, the refereeing will even out and we can still take this one!
Dude get a grip. The Finnish coaching staff knew the game was rigged when they saw the ref lineup. They even protested that the refs need to be changed. We're now witnessing the results of the corruption.

I totally understand the tripping call. Slow motion showed that it wasn't a trip but that's gonna look a hell of a lot like tripping when you're on the ice without a multi angle slowmo replay.

Finland is playing like hot garbage. If they win this game it'd be a travesty.

actually they'd be up 3-2 right now if that goal stood up...like I said this game is crooked, some of these calls are a joke, that no goal/penalty call was embarrassing.

The Kontiola situation could have gone either way (usually they call off the goal with no penalties) but I really hate the fact that the second goal was a direct result of Erat slashing Kemppainen's stick out of his hands when the puck wasn't anywhere near them. That should have been an easy call to make but instead it was an easy goal.

Finland isn't going to win today but it's not just the referees, Czechs have been the better team.

What did Kontiola do wrong when he scored the goal ?
He pushed Jordan into the crease while he didn't have possesion of the puck? Thats textbook interference.

I mean it might not get always called, but just blaming the refs for everything is lame.

What did Sobotka do on the center ice faceoff to get sent to the box too? Finland's played punched in the face first, and then once more.

What was Rinne getting mad about on the third goal?

"Skaters in front of the goal net are given leeway for penalties such as interference, cross-checking, hooking, holding, tripping, and slashing so long as the efforts to establish position in front or to remove that skater from in front do not cross the lines of a fair battle for territory. Violations in this area include: knocking down an opponent who does not have the puck; pulling at an opponent’s sweater; placing a stick between an opponent’s legs in a “corkscrew†manoeuvre; cross-checking an opponent violently; slashing at the back of an opponent’s legs."

No leeway was given. Rules were not followed. Bad call. Nothing I can do.

So what's the problem? :)

Uneven reffing, sure. BUT CAN YOU please talk more about how the PLAYERS are doing? I am growing frustrated since I can't watch it and you just nag about the refs :( WE ARE USED TO THIS ALREADY.
