You should take a look at the pictures in this thread instead of blindly believing what TSN/NBCSN feeds you.

I have looked at both perspectives, done calculations, ran analyctics and conducted exstensive interviews. All research states that both clearly were offsides

From IIHF:
"A player has one skate on the blue line or in the neutral zone and one skate in the
attacking zone at the instant that the puck completely crosses the blue line.

Ruling: It is not offside. "

NHL:
"A player is on-side when either of his skates are in contact with, or on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses the leading edge of the blueline regardless of the position of his stick"

I really hope Petry starts to get more love from the coaching staff...and HF.

Team lead 4 shots on net this game, 2 assists so far and with limited ice time. As Oiler fans have said, he would be a great 2nd pairing guy on a contender, but the Oil ask him to do to much.

Well, Swiss is a good team this year too it seems, they will not fall in this loss, they have big chances to collect the points and get to the QF's, where anything can happen.

Funnily enough, it's not even a "good" team. At least 19 players refused to play at the WHC this year.
But some lines seem to start klicking, which is nice.

Thank you ... actually it is a terrible team with lots of players turning down the invitation ... which becomes pleasant ... meaning that we may be witnessing the emergence of depth.

Thanks for your support.

No problem, I'm all for diversity and growth in Hockey as a sport and Swiss hockey is becoming great example of success in that, and also makes them very rootable for me, but I was just quietly watching this untill the offside farce happened though. :)

Never been booed during the national anthem. It's not our fault we had good gaps and forced them offsides. #USA

Thats true. I mean the booing part, and them playing well forcing them ALMOST offsides. It's not at all on team USA and they shoudln't have got booed, but in the other hand, fans deserved to show what they think about those refs and their bs calls. Luckily it wasn't Final or anything.

Well, that is classless.

edit. I mean both the booing and Trouba's comment about offsides. I'm sure professional hockey player know the rules and know what is offside and what is not.

Looked like bad calls to me....I'd say we got lucky. I'm glad this tournament format minimizes the value of one loss for them.

Two bad calls. Embarrassing.. I would have been pissed if I was cheering for Switzerland. And I can't believe that so many are saying it was offside, when it clearly isn't. Quite obvious if you know the IIHF rules (which has been posted in the thread).

Two blown calls is a shame, but both were close and only clearly offsides in retrospect. I can understand the refs not getting the call right, but to go back and discuss afterwards is terrible. Good game from both teams though, and aside from the terrible officiating it was a treat to watch.

They got both calls right. Both clear offside. Way too much crying going on here. Great game all around and the Swiss fought hard. Way to go USA!!!

I definitely can see how one could argue that those two calls aren't easy to get right for the refs during the game and only appear to be clear onsides in hindsight. It's pretty much the view I have.

But to say that they are both clear offside is nothing short of laughable, especially with the evidence that says otherwise you can find in this thread.

To me it's a good goal but as you said, it isn't clear ether way. What I found very strange though is that there was no offside being called and then after the goal was scored the goal was disallowed. What was that all about?

If you listen carefully, you can hear that the linesman blows his whistle. As hard as it is for us swiss, if he blows the whistle, they can not allow the goal.

Both were clearly onside, actually, you could see it pretty good.
good game for Switzerland, unlucky result but I think QF quali is still possible so that's the main point.

Just saw the highlights, the refs had their **** whistles out big time!

I never saw a good replay of the first one. That one looked close and I could either way on the call. The second one was obviously onside. The funny part is I thought the first one was on and the second one was clearly off at full speed.
