That's unfortunate, but then again they will be mistakes and inexperience with a 22 year old. I've been pretty stoked with his development, though.

That's of course true and I'm not holding it against him or anything. However the thing is that while most of our other D-men might not be younger than him, they are even less experienced (don't have the Olympics experience) and play in inferior league, so if we want to win against such good teams as Canada we can't have a player like him making such mistakes.

I don't think Canada played that well, but a win is a win. Kadri looked like the best Canadian forward to me, but I only watched the first 2 periods.

But man oh man that Slovakian team does not have a lot of talent. Seems like a transition period for their older players to the newer generation.

I think Canada should just roll with Scrivens for the rest of the tournament.

The goal he let in wasn't pretty, but he was solid considering this was his 1st international game.

And Tippett seems to be throwing whoever together without any thought for talent or chemistry. Don't like him as Canada's coach so far.

Great job by Canada this game. It was a tough game Slovakia was fired up and played hard and it was a hard challenge but Canada was able to pull a victory out in the later half of the game. I really like Scrivens game I hope they use him as the main goaltender for the rest of the tournament. I also love his custom maple leafs goalie pads. If anyone has a pic of it please post it. I am looking forward to Canadas game against the Czechs on Monday.

I have to say Monahan must be growing on the coaches. Noticed him the entire 2nd half of the game. Very strong two way player

Meh, I don't care. This Slovak team is "C". Not the best on best.
:sarcasm

I would not call this the Slovak C team. I would argue that apart from Tomas Jurco and Marko Dano, it has all of our current top younger players. In that regard, these games are important for Slovakia and warrant more than a shoulder shrug. This is the Slovak future.

Haven't seen a replay, but looked to me like that shot hit a Canuck stick, also he had Satan waving at it

1 point after the first 2 games seems a bit rough at first, but I was afraid our team would start the tournament looking very nervous. However the way these young guys play is very enjoyable to watch comparing to what we saw in Sochi. Yes, the teams are weaker but our team is also weaker, so it is relatively comparable. Overall I see promise in this group of players and they are definitely able to be developed further.

Why doesn't Rielly get a lot more playing time? Most of the defense has been brutal. Rielly looks impressive and makes an impact whenever he gets put on the ice.

Statement game I guess, Canada simply didn't show up for France and this game proves it.

Better performance here for sure. Hopefully the game vs. Slovakia is more of a show of what the team is than the game vs. France.
