GDT: May 10 • Canada 4, Slovakia 1

Bieksa has good north-south movement, accelerates pretty fast, can jump in the play, but he has been positionally horrible in the D-zone.

Him and Garrison CANNOT be our shutdown pair if they are going to do this stuff

Garrison is fairly good in his own end, but I agree with your assessment on Bieksa.

Are you serious? have you been watching? That was his first mistake. Apart from that he drew a penalty, had a good hit, created scoring chances, won faceoffs in the 2 games so far. Best forward in the team right after mckinnon and perhaps schenn

Yes I have watched both games....it was a Dumb penalty...hope he makes up for it

Canada looking good. Determined to win this one, coming out physical and showing some killer instinct. They're absolutely one of the favorites to win this tourney. Slovakia could take this one though. Fighting tooth and nail and playing pretty smart.

I frankly don't remember us ever having a team that was good on faceoffs.

Yeah, I think the reason is that we usually lack natural centres and have to play wingers as centres. Not sure, if that is the case now.

Although, Handzus and Stumpel were pretty good faceoff men.

Slovaks took a couple dumb penalties in offensive zone...Kadri's penalty in neutral zone wasn't exactly Mensa worthy either...

When you are looking for Slovak NT which was good at faceof, you have to look for teams where played Peter Stastny, Oto Hascak & Co.

Jason Garrison with 2 points already, having himself quite a game
