I haven't seen anything in Jones that makes me think he should be on the roster at all. He isn't even a physical force. He just takes dumb penalties. I guess they are stubborn and don't want to admit they made a mistake signing him but right now we'd be better off with him waived and Johnson signed to the roster.
Johnson is no star, but he might generate us a little offense.

Jones is good. Motherf***er good. He’s aggressive. He’s mean. And as much as we’re told to temper our expectations from an offensive standpoint? He has the capacity to better than your standard plug.

What it meant though, is that Sweeney was serious about the team’s identity. He didn’t bring back Boqvist. He let Heinen go. He wasn’t interested in the milquetoast JAG and he wasn’t gonna leave the heavy lifting to one rotational forward. Max Jones is every bit the asshole we crave. He’s an initiator. He’s an instigator. He’s a driver. And you know what? He’s not a bad hockey player either.

Charlie Jacobs must like WTF with the over 2 mil to he, Tufte and Oesterle.
I mean I doubt our scouting was good enough that we'd have signed Koepke alone.

1/4 is what should be expected who cares what guys in Providence earn. Has anyone down there played on a 1 way deal since Wagner who of course is an NHL regular again?

You’re not kidding.

Don’t know if injury got him or what. But he hasn’t shown anything to even be on an NHL roster early this season.

If only we had got the guy I was familiar with. He would have been a fan favourite.

Exactly how I feel. I like(d) the player a lot and thought he would be a great bottom six add for the team that was lacking grit and physicality. He's been terrible. I know he was hurt in camp (always the problem with him) and maybe never really got going and could still be hurt in some way. Best if he goes to Providence and tries to pull it together.

It was his mental game I was most disappointed in. Guy didn't seem to have a clue out there.

He has the speed and size so maybe he's a guy who can rebuild his career in the AHL and maybe come back one day. It needs a big rebuild though.

Jones + Tufte = 6 GP / 0G / 0A / -5 / 11 Hits / 1 Blk / $1.8 million
Lauko = 11 GP / 2G / 2A / Even / 15 Hits / 9 Blk / $787k

But hey, Jones is 6'3 & Tufte is 6'6.....Lauko is a only 6'1
Not one fight by Jones or noteworthy hit. Absolute bust. Swing and a miss Sweeney. Great Lauko trade.

Every GM in the league take flyers on players some work out some don't. Sweeney hits more than he misses on these signings.

Just about every guy he picked up last seasons worked out.

I wish both of these guys (Tufte and Jones) could have had more time. They are both very toolsy, Jones brought excellent effort, Tufte could protect the puck really well... But for that to happen the Bruins would have had to have more cap space and gotten off to a better start.

I was willing to give it a try.

It just didn't work out. Good luck to him, and kudos to management for moving on rather than hanging on in expectation of something that likely never would have materialized,

I have to say, when they signed Max Jones I took a look at his fights on YouTube.

I viewed six. He lost four.

However, I wasn't expecting him to be a pugilist. I was expecting he would play a hard, physical game.

That didn't happen, unfortunately. Largely because, as noted previously, Jones cannot stay healthy.

Again, good luck to him,

Both Tufte and Jones could stay in the Bruins organization, contribute in Providence soon and in Boston at a later date.
