Are you labeling Brannstrom a bust at 21?

He is elite, you will see in due time.

Definitely not call him a bust lol... where'd you get that?

It's either gush over him like you his mamma or he's a bust? those are the only 2 options?

To be honest, I am not very high on Bernard-Docker either, but I do hope he proves me wrong.

I am just not sure his game will translate well to the NHL, and it might leave some of you disappointed overall.

Or not. My guess is that he is & will be a solid two way defenceman but maybe not a great point producer, a McDonagh type of D.

It just seems some folks around here will only accept Brannstrom if he reaches a level of Karlsson, or even a Chabot for example and anything less is a fail, which is why the poor kid has so much pressure on him to be something he is probably not, and never will be.

I should clarify that when I refer to Brannstrom as having elite potential, I do not mean to imply that he will be an elite package defenseman, but rather I think he will be elite in certain aspects and probably average in others, but either way he will play in the NHL and will be relied upon as a solid defenseman on a winning team. He will be able to hold his own in a couple of years when he matures more physically and develops a little more man strength and experience. His hockey I.Q is definitely elite though.

He impressed me today - Him wearing the ‘C’ over Pinto and Sanderson is also notable.
If he was drafted higher (like, even 4th/5th rnd), there would be more buzz around him. He might top out at "good AHLer" a la Max McCormick, Buddy Robinson, Christian Wolanin, which is still pretty good, but I wouldnt rule him out as a 6/7D at the NHL level either. Maybe there is even room for more.

I expect him to play all the games where as Sanderson and Pinto may come out after proving themselves as in a class of their own in the first one. Assuming they want to have the same C throughout, I wouldn't read it as he got it over them.

How long til max gets in the same conversation as JBD and Thomson?
He needs a real nice year in the AHL and then I think he passes Lassi. Brings a nice change of pace to Zub and JBD on the right side.

If he can fill out a bit more I think he has what it takes to really surprise people.

Well he does have a pro season under his belt & I would expect that they would give the C to a AHL pro over a prospect rookie. I liked his play so far & he could be another dark horse for this team that is just starting to emerge as a potential NHL player.

Troy Mann mentioned he sees him as more of a 2 way D that has more offense than what they saw last year .. based on personnel... He will get more looks on the PP.. likely PP2. He would likely use Thomson on PP1 and continue to use JBD on the shut down pair playing against the other team's best lines and 1st unit PK.

Cool, now every player from the 2019 draft class will, presumably baring some unforeseen circumstances, play an NHL game, that's a first in modern day sens history I believe.

At least he gets one game up. Good for him.

DJ is in must win mode, so not holding my breath that Max will have many shifts. Max needs to keep his shifts short and not get caught on the ice against Buffalo's top players at home.

Would have liked to see Lassi as well, but Holden wins you games?

No game for Jarventie or Shank either to close out the season to assess their progress. The points on board matter I guess for the coaching staff for their job prospects under new ownership, although, and don't tell DJ I told you this, it won't matter. The last 2 games won't decide their future, which will be decided when the new ownership arrives.

Not sure you get a lot of assessment out of one game. I think its just a reward for Guenette and its an easy switch with JBD

Lassi Holden is also an easy switch, but I guess something is either very rotten in terms of Lassi's development, or the coaching staff would rather play Holden cuz winning matters.

I agree one game isn't enough, I wanted these guys called up a few games back.
