No. He stopped and hollered when the puck went in the net. It had nothing to do with the goalie.

That is not what Maurice is saying.

Maurice is saying he did it specifically in Woll's face and he thought it was funny.

He isn't cheering the win. Come-on that's a stretch especially from a Leafs fan.

I don't care, but it was classless, but not every player out there has class.

Meh...spur of the moment, split-second thing done in euphoria as Gudas was right there. I won't blame Gudas too much about it. Not like he went out of his way to do it instead of celebrating with his team, and it's not like he physically mocked or touched Woll.

In my experience, much like alcohol fueled rants, "spur of the moment, split second" situations are where people reveal their true character.

He didn't touch Woll, and did no harm otherwise. No different than a player going by an opponent's bench looking them down yelling "Wooo" or some other weird thing like flexing their muscle or blowing a kiss after a goal.

Someone does that in your face at a bar or a bank line, you're just taking it? Not me, it would be conversation time.

.

You don’t think Gudas would have been excited from the OT series winning goal if Belfour was in the net?
It look to me like he just yelled because the puck went in the net and happened to be blocking in front of the net.

That's how I saw it.

Disrespectful? Yes a bit, but mostly just a hockey player happy to move to the next round.

The image that comes to mind when I see that image is ....

Much like dumb dogs, Gudas lacks object permanence, if he cant see it, it's not there. He was not actually cheering the goal, he was yelling at the Magic Man for making his puck disappear, once the puck went out of sight, Gudas though he would never see his beloved puck again .... WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY PUCK!!!!

In my experience, much like alcohol fueled rants, "spur of the moment, split second" situations are where people reveal their true character.

True character is what you do when no one is watching, millions were watching that game, if that is what he does with millions watching, what the F does Gudas do when no one is around?

I dont believe it was calculated and just hollered and happened to be standing right there. You give them too much credit.

It’s like ‘taunting’ in the NFL after a big play, completely classless and as someone else mentioned shows a persons true character.

To me it looked more spur of the moment and nothing like some of goal celebration that are intentionally taunting either the ref, the opposition, or the fans.

I think I was the only one on this board that was watching Gudas during the play and actually called the penalty live. From that live perspective and not a still photo after the fact it didn’t look too egregious. I was, and still am, more concerned about how they missed a blatant penalty, I guess.

Plain intimidating action.
Exposed cowardly Leafs again.
It worked.
Who won the series? It is part of all sport, from tennis to football.
A snow shower to the face of Mike Palmateer would have caused a brawl with Tiger Williams and Dan Maloney even Pat Boutette, but Gio, Brodie, Holl, etc...notta. "sorry Woll, you on your own boy".
56 and counting

I don't have a problem with Gudas hollering in Woll's face.

I have a problem with the team not doing anything about it. That's on Keefe. He clearly doesn't have the mental capacity to play mind games like the better coaches.

At first I thought it was inexperience.

Now I think he's just not very smart. After the Chicago game Keefe threw his star players under the bus again. Then going into the very next game Maurice throws down the gauntlet.

Which Keefe picked up and used to smack his own players in the face.

If someone told me a team was gonna fire the GM but keep the coach I would assume that coach was successful. At minimum I'd think he would know how to motivate his own players. Instead Keefe just says a lot of stupid things.

At this point I can only wonder how deep a hole Keefe's mouth can dig for his ass before he's finally fired.

You would get into a physical altercation with a total stranger inside a bank if they cheered in your face?

Are you insane?

To be fair, the Maple Leafs didn't fire the GM.

TBH if some rando did that to me in a bank I would honestly think the dude was on drugs or has mental health issues and not engage the guy. A guy does that to me in a bar, I'd probably lay him out.

If I was to go back to my 1st year Behaviour Psychology class. I would say Gudas was playing the part of a predatory dominant male role the entire series. Standing over someone, showing that sort aggressive behaviour, in a persons personal space, when that other person is in a vulnerable state, is consistent with dominance. I can understand why Gudas did it, it's 100% consistent with the mental state he was in the entire series, it's also 100% consistent with a guy who just did some rails too.

Dominant dogs show a similar behaviour by getting on top of a submissive dog.
