I liked Barrie ... that being said, I haven't missed him whatsoever. Ekholm has been better than I hoped.

8 even strength points in 10 games so far. I knew he was super underrated offensively but he's been even better than that.

Well, there's Makar, Karlsson, Josi and then leading the next tier of D is clearly Matheson.Well, he's not Mike Matheson, but he's pretty decent.
Those other guys are just lucky that Matheson is a nice guy or he'd be lapping the field.
From what Preds fans have said, he was put in more shutdown role. Never had much PP time (Josi was the guy) and NSH was always a pretty low scoring team. That second pairing of theirs was a hell of a shutdown pairing.
He's getting a lot more chances on the Oilers. His offensive game is coming out. Dudes got some talent!

Looked like he was having a good time out there with Karlsson too. Could be the biggest acquisition Holland will ever make for the Oil if he convinces his buddy to come over here too.

The guy has made me feel so much more optimism before every game. That slapshot goal was next level cool and the backhand drive goal too. I love this player. I was defense all of the 10 years of youth hockey I played I really cared about playing defense and understood it's importance and did it pretty well within the garbage tier hockey I had access to...but what I'm trying to get at is seeing someone that is DEFENSE first but also having success offensively on this team...shit it can't get much better.

I knew he was good but wow he’s a 1D. Maybe he gets us back to the west finals or beyond. He makes up for Keith’s absence and then some.
Telling Ek65 that Edmonton reminds him of Sweden And it is a good place to raise kids.

Seeing ekholm rack up points with yall has me wondering if he will find an extra offensive gear with y'all. He has always had a good first pass but Nashville doesnt have the offensive power that you do and Josi gets first dibs with the offensive talent. Josi has actually been our points leader for several seasons in a row and Ekholm didnt get much time with him.
It will just be interesting to see what happens with his points totals when he can pass it to forwards that can actually do something with the puck.

It really wouldn't surprise me. You can see he's such a smart player that he's almost always in the right position and everything else seems to be there. Skating, passing, shooting.
Just an incredibly high IQ player I think that's why he's almost been a PPG player here in 10 games so far. That +15 also stands out.

He appears to be an even better player then the team thought they were getting. He's very good at everything and, as I've said so many times, an absolutely perfect fit.
He’s been so good we might have to forfeit picks to Calgary to keep it fair.
