Whatever it is it needs to get fixed and it needs to get fixed NOW because the bottom 6 is not providing enough offense to sustain his absence much longer, this team cannot score 5 on 5, I don't know why, they have never had a problem with it, even without Matthews before.

It would really help if Domi and Robertson would actually do something because right now they are essentially stealing money from the team because they sure as hell aren't doing their jobs.

It does not need to get fixed 'now' (I'm not using the all caps).

Matthews should return when he is healthy to do so. And the top priority is that he and the rest of the team are healthy heading into the playoffs, not for game 19 of the regular season. The team also happens to be in 2nd place at the mo (not that this is of prime importance either at this stage).

Leafs schedule is light in the next few weeks. No sense in rushing it. You could let him skip the Oilers game and see how he is Wednesday. They only play a weekend game and Wednesdays for the rest of November, then play 4 games the first week of December (wtf)

Interesting little tidbit about Prime Mondays from Kipper:

“Wednesday night was the fifth set of back-to-back games for the Leafs and we are not even through mid-November yet. Their 16 in total will lead the league, and a big portion of that is driven by Amazon’s new streaming deal that demanded they are the most featured team. Amazon also made sure that, when the Leafs weren’t the featured game on their streaming app, they wouldn’t play on the same night or time slot, to avoid competing with Sportsnet or TSN.”

At least reports are it won't linger when healed. So something upper body, not wrist, acute.. what is it ?

NHLPA should make a case against back to back games requiring travel, so you either have a 2 game mini series between two teams in one city or the home team hosts and plays 2 different teams. Just seems like there are a lot of sports science reasons to say nothing of environmental.

The reports seem to be on 24 hour PR management at this point. No setback one day, CJ reports it’s not a nagging injury and will disappear forever once back the next. Then it’s more time and focusing on health.

Our week to week would just be the honest thing to announce, with some specificity of the injury.

The way it's going he should skip Wednesday versus Vegas and get another week of rest. See how he's feeling from there

That'll give him 3 weeks since his last game

Don’t really know how a “day to day” injury turned week to week but whatever

Having this wishy-washy responses feels weird, he’s tracking well but isn’t on the ice. We don’t know what even happened, aren’t even given a specific place that’s hurt, aren’t even given a proper timeline and they just want us to say ok.

It looks like any major awards, barring maybe the rocket are already gone, he’s gonna have to play elite in the playoffs to be worth his contract

Sure is injury prone
Seems that way, and it's too bad he can't for whatever reason avoid those niggling injuries that take him out of the line-up.

I remember year one the guy never missed so much as a shift, and then year two, a soft brush past by a defender and pffft 20 games shoulder and since then 9+ games missed every season with the exception of last year's 81 starts.

I don't know what the solution is, but I do know that 13.4 might be better used elsewhere than the injury pool.

They're pretty good at keeping secrets. But I don't believe it can't linger. He sat out a preseason game in Sept for same injury.

The problem though Stephen is arena usage. The Leafs need their own arena so they're not sharing it with the Raptors, the circus, Lady GaGa, Billy Graham and the 900 other possible distractions. How in the world do the Rags manage to avoid B2Bs like that? MSG seems to be a 24/7/365 entertainment centre.

Pre-season I called Willy leading the team in goals and maybe even snagging the Rocket!

That could be said of a few of our players. Really, that's what matters anyway, if we don't get full value in the regular season, who cares? Just win in the playoffs.
I guess, but it would still be nice for them to produce like their comparables in the regular + playoffs.

It’s not like they are mutually exclusive results

Putting on my Team Canada fan cap, they need to sit him out of the Four Nations cup !
