Nobody here knows the secret health issue that sometimes afflicts AM? He had to take time off during the Boston series as well and Keefe its something that affects him sometime.

I have no idea but was thinking maybe like a Crohn's disease or something? Its a bit weird
Well then, sometimes it could be upper body, sometimes it could be lower body, sometimes it could be both.

he has had it lingering since preseason and maybe before that. Its chronic not sure why they say its not serious. they could use his rested legs on b2b. Its a problem.

Yes I think it has to be something gastrointestinal given how he shits the bed every year.

Honestly I wonder the same thing. Dude often looks like shit and 'sickly' half the time with giant bags under his eyes

it was strange he wasn't taking any one-timers this year after having a surprising amount of success with them out of the blue last year. Probably his shoulder or back. Also this thread is embarrassing.

Just give him the rest of the week off and see where he's at for Tuesday against Ottawa

In the post game thread someone posted the records without Matthews, Nylander, Marner, MO and it stood out to me how many games an NHL player misses in his career. Bergeron, for example, missed 150+ games.
It makes sense considering how physical hockey is and the number of games they play.

Of the major NA leagues, only football can really be considered more of a physically demanding league and they only play 17 games + playoffs.

There's also been more of an injury crisis throughout most European soccer leagues and they "only" play ~2 games a week. The injuries are more related to fatigue than physical contact, but the point is the same that most professional athletes are being asked to play more games than in the past due to the financial potential of an increased schedule.

The NHL also apparently looking to get a few more games in (in addition to more tournaments like the 4 nations).

Last time that was the case he was struggling with his fast pivots on the boards, doesn’t look as bad this time.

Man he is soft. I don’t think I could count on one hand the number of times he has been hurt

Hopefully the team knew when they backed up the dump truck of money on his door step

Sometimes I wish he'd take his 50 goals elsewhere to an appreciative fan base.

Toronto whiny ass fans deserve being in the doldrums every season.

This is the most appreciative fanbase in the league and it's not close. Every other team is actually incentivized to try and win because their fans will stop supporting.

Sure buddy.

He is overpaid
How much does Kucherov make
Mackkinnon?
Cap is cooked
Like I said, I hope you all get your own way and he moves on at some point.

The concern over Auston Matthews' injury has ratcheted up after he missed practice again on Thursday. What is your understanding of Matthews' timeline?

Johnston: I don't see any reason for anyone to freak out or panic too much just yet because the plan still is what it has been all along; Auston Matthews is resting his body and giving himself a chance to recover.

As we look ahead to the weekend there are back-to-back games for the Leafs. I wouldn't expect to see him on Friday when the Leafs host the Detroit Red Wings, but Saturday's game against Montreal, at least at this point in time, has not been ruled out. He's in a position to return as soon as then.

The Leafs and Matthews are taking this day-by-day with an injury that he's been managing to some degree since training camp. It's been a busy schedule and I think the Leafs and Matthews here are mindful of where they're at. There's nothing yet to suggest this is going to be a long-term thing.

LTIR the muchacho. Let him bask in the Mexican/Arizona sun and heal properly. Minten, come on down, you are the Leafs saviour lol

Why are Leafs fans such meaniepants poopyheads? 😕
