Speculation: Matthews to California team for two 1sts?

  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Michael Misa isn't even that good of a prospect. How good are you if you were drafted 2nd overall and had to be sent down to the minors your first season? He's Nico Hischier level at best - which is a great player, but fans overrate the value of unmet potential.

Matthews as a rookie in a lower scoring era with Connor Brown and Zach Hyman as his linemmates scored 40 goals and finished tied for second in the Rocket race.

Misa was sent down to the minors on a rehab assignment.

No one would be trading for rookie Matthews, they'd be trading for 30's Matthews, who is likely to be worse going forward than a Nico Hishier-level prime.

No one cares what Matthews did as a Rookie anymore. It's irrelevant now.

Matthews scores 40 goals in his sleep. A healthy motivated Matthews with a new coach and he's back to 60 goals. Find anyone who can do that, u can't. So go enjoy misa and his 9 goals.
