I think it’s a game of who blinks first between St.Louis and NJ.
Flames want Kyrou or Bratt and neither team wants to do that right now.
I don’t know the Blues roster well enough to know if they would be better or worse overall if they trade Kyrou for Tkachuk . I’d imagine that Tarasenko would have to go due to the cap situation and would that not leave a big hole in their lineup with Kyrou and Tarasenko gone? Tank also has a NMC so it’s not going to be easy for St.Louis

For NJ and Bratt , I’m not sure that Tkachuk is that much of an upgrade to warrant payimg that much more $ on Tkachuk than Bratt.
Tkachuk fills a need better but not sure if it’s worth the price
It's also not just Tarasenko and Kyrou gone either. They just lost Perron, another 25+ goal scorer in Free Agency a couple weeks ago. They'd be going into next season with the same defensive core from last years playoffs but be subtracting Kyrou, Perron, and Tarasenko for 1 Tkachuk.

Hmmmm . What pieces do they have to offer and what’s their cap situation like ?
What’s the state tax there ?
I can definitely see Dallas on Tkachuks list .
Nice warm climate in a US city . Once Seguin and Benn are gone , he would probably be the main guy there ( and rumour has it he is interested in being that . Future Captain and the head honcho leading a good team
Checks a lot of boxes I’d imagine for Tkachuk . Just a matter of what they can offer Calgary

Not excited about the prospect of Dallas unless Hintz or Robertson comes back (which I sincerely doubt). What other prospect/top 6 fwd do they have?

I really don’t know what the Flames would want from Dallas. Between all the NMCs/NTCs, players they wouldn’t want to trade, etc, I don’t see a good partner there.

I can see Gurianov and Hankanpaa for cap purposes and then some mix of Bourque/Johnson/Harley/ Draft capital I guess?

So basically Strickland trying to drum up fake intrigue with that tweet, eh?

"What are [INSERT RANDOM TEAM] trying to do?"

:scared: :scared:

:shakehead

Just to keep the discussion going I guess, maybe he was bored.

Nothing new developing, unless there's more intel he's not reporting.

Source on Twitter. They called Neidereiter signing w nashville 24 hrs before insiders reported it, called the Brent Burns return 1 hour before the insiders, and then Pacioretty deal 1 hour before insiders. Must work in the Carolina front office. It’s bizarre.

Person said Carolina is making a hard push. I added the deal could get done today.

Does anyone check Capfriendly before coming up with trade proposals or nah
I'm guessing it would be something along the lines of Necas, J Staal, and a protected 1st. Could swap Staal for Kotkaniemi, but that could be more difficult to do. Then they will need another centre next year. Staal @ 6 mil and Pactches at 7mil come off the books next year. They have the money to get Tkachuk on a long term 9+ mil deal.

edit: Staal has full NMC.

I’m trying to figure it out between Calgary and Carolina and I just can’t see it if yoh assume no one waives to go to Calgary. Have to get another team involved.

Like it could be Necas, KK, Fast, Gardiner, Rantaa for Tkachuk, Vladar but it seems so far fetched and Calgary would have to get rid of Lucic to make it happen and even then it’s tight.

Possibly something around Svechnikov but don’t know if Carolina is interested in that

New guess is: Necas, Gardiner, Rantaa, 2023 1st, 2024 3rd.

Carolina may need to swap around more salary to fit Tkachuks 1st year.
