Something that impressed me after watching all the highlights this morning because I'm so old I can't stay up til past 10:00... On Poitras' 2nd goal, he is able to overpower Radko Gudas for the puck. Gudas may not be the best player, but he is very solid. Just look at his hit in Freddy. Poitras has insane skill on the boards at only 19 years old. Crazy to think how he could be in 5 years time as his game develops and he becomes bigger/stronger. Hope everything keeps trending in the direction its going.

Yup, he also went right to the net for the rebound.

He's got a bit of Bergeron in him in that he's already doing the little things. Always seems to be in the right spot, not afraid to go fight for possession, etc. The game doesn't seem too fast for him (Geekie too)

Honestly, his start so far reminds me of Pasta’s in 2014. Pasta was called up and looked really good in his first few games, but wasn’t putting up points. Then he scored his first 2 against Philly and never looked back. Both have/had tremendous poise for teenagers. We’ll see if he can keep it going as the other guy turned out OK!

He’s only 19 and there will be plenty of peaks and valleys in his development but he’s had more or less a perfect start. He looks more confident every game and great to see him having fun. He’s here to stay.

He does have great skills on the boards but Gudas won that battle and actually fed the point for us. It says a lot that Potras got in there with a guy like that and pressured him into the turnover.

No way on earth can you send him back. He's gonna have his rookie moments and he'll probably hit a wall at some point, but he is clearly ready got the big show and sending him back to a league where he has nothing to learn won't help his development. When a 19 year old kid looks like one of the best players on the ice the decision becomes pretty obvious.

This could not have happened at a better time. Kid seems like he has it together, it is still extremely early but I love the start of his career so far.

Keep it up kid. . ..
In addition.... has been kind of clutch. This is now 3 gtg/gwg dating back to the start of pre season. In addition at least 2 assists or start the play... gtg/gwg goals...he has had his hands on.

I hope he continues the strong play... kept for the remainder of the season. Just what the doctor ordered.

Man are bruins legendary in getting 2nd round gems. Bergy dk looch carlo now poitras. If I'm Donny I'm hoarding 2nd round picks in next year draft.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we don't have a 2nd until 2026 lol. It is impressive what they've done in the second round though, especially given the franchises fairly poor record with first round picks. I still feel its early with Poitras but he is looking like the real deal.

Hitting on a draft pick like this is franchise altering. Quality centers are hard to come by, look at a team like Nashville who I don't think in their entire history have had a bonafide #1 center. Plucking a top 6 offensive talent when over 50 names were already off the board is fantastic win and the kind of luck you need to be a top team.

1st goal yesterday took amazing hand eye co ordinarion. 2nd goal required good timing.

Kid has both. Also is elusive. Not just with the puck but without.
Quite amazing isn't it? I find it interesting that Poitras has a strong lacrosse background. I think you can see it in his game, the way he flings the puck on his passes. He's got great vision. You know who else was a pretty good lacrosse player? Wayne Gretzky. Now, I'm not comparing him to Gretzky at all, just noting the similar lacrosse background. Great sport to master if you want to be a good hockey player.

On another note, how is having Ian Mitchell in the lineup better than having Mason Lohrei in the lineup? I mean Mitchell was ok, but he does not move the needle and does not have Lohrei's upside. Noticed that Mason was a +3 with one assist in his last game in Providence this past weekend. Just sayin........

Wait til his slew foot era he’ll be getting a lot more Marchand comps.
Never seen a player get as many comps on this board as Poitras. Lost count of how many players Poitras reminds people of. When a 19 year old is getting such a wide range of comps to great players it's safe to say he is good in a wide variety of things.

Haha yeah I feel like it’s a pretty common thing across every fanbase with young promising prospects tho, people get excited and want to compare him to past greats.

I get a little worried when Potras cuts back against the boards. The wrong hit, head height (Potras skates pretty low) when he cuts back could do some damage. Potras is pretty elusive, but still a concern.

Always a concern, I agree. Then again it’s the same as any man. It just takes 1

I do wonder what happens during playoff rules with some of those moves. He doesn’t have Marchand’s strength yet.
