I was recently in Canada - love that place

if I could do it all over again I’d be born in Toronto and grow up to lead the Leafs to multiple Cups like Dave Keon

Ok, I will. When he returns to the NHL and suddenly becomes the worst player in the league, I'll mark your words.
Who the F said he would be the worst player? Good one.

When Is Bedard joining the team? But But But he's toooo goood to play in a useless tournament

I love how remarkably upset you're getting over this.
I am,Like many I pay over 10k a year as a season ticket holder to see the best team we can put on the ice, but lets hope Canada can get another trophy or medal whatever the F they hand out.

People don't like my take tough shit for them

Not a fan of this personally, but I've never really cared much about the WJC in general. Personally don't see how playing against kids is better for his development then playing against men, and he's been one of our more consistent 5v5 play drivers so it unarguably makes the roster worse while he's gone. On the other hand, I understand that this is a huge deal for a kid that grew up in Canada though, so I'm happy for him.

He's essentially playing every second game these days anyway. He's got one goal in his last 17 I believe. He's not been at the top of his game. Him going to play the juniors won't hurt.

You're getting a little too worked up, man.

Keep in mind, Poitras was never in the top tier of Canadian hockey players in his age. Very good yea, but no way he would have sniffed the WJC before this fall. It’s a huge deal for Canadian hockey kids, and he gets a chance to play in it - above many of his peers who were always ahead of him. Could be a very good thing for him - and he wouldn’t be going unless he really wanted to go. Missing 8 NHL games - or the Bruins missing him for 8 games - is really not any kind of big deal.

I just think back to the times the offensively anemic Bruins sent Pastrnak to the world juniors and those teams missed the playoffs by a point each year.

Bruins assume all the risk for none of the benefits. Playing 6 junior allstar games against Latvia and Austria aren't going to make anybody a better pro player.

But muh country!

Dumb management, I hope he wins a trophy Fing Idiots

Playing vs kids his own age will help his development lol

We can watch him get bounced around some more when he gets back
You are wrong, it is just not about his development, this kid is physically, not ready for the grind, of a full NHL season, it has very little to do with his skillset, he is NHL talent....... This is one time they are not "FING IDIOTS"

Both sides make good arguments. Hard for me to have a very strong opinion since I am not Canadian. I can't fully appreciate the honor a Canadian kid feels for playing for Team Canada. Zacha is back. The Bs tend to do fine when missing a player or two. All I know is that I will be marking Team Canada games on my calendar and will be rooting hard for Poitras to have a good tourney. No doubt this move by DS will gain even more loyalty toward the organization from Poitras. Will also be nice to not see Poitras get caved in by NHLers multiple times a week. His body will appreciate that.

The only real risk is injury, which is assumed if he stays with the big club anyway. Is it better or worse for development? I think a case could be made either way. That being said, he's not exactly torching anybody out there lately and has cooled off considerably. He's not a game breaker by any means. A little change of pace for a bit, plus it's something he said himself he's been super hyped to be a part of.

I agree, send 'em.
