The last thing I’ll say about this hit was that Whitecloud knew what he was doing. He could’ve hit Knies square on through the chest, but he didn’t. He made sure he elevated as he hit him to catch his head and knock him out. It was predatory and it was retaliatory because Vegas were still soiling their diapers about the non boarding call that Grebenkin laid on Theodore (who finished the game and won’t miss any time, so the vengeance acted out wasn’t even proportional).

By the leagues rules it’s not deserving of a penalty or supplemental discipline. Fine. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t dirty. f*** Whitecloud, f*** Vegas, f*** Parros, and f*** the league.
How can it be legal he hit Knies in the head. Don’t get caught up in the red herring of did whitecloud leave his feet. It doesn’t matter.

I said it’s legal by the leagues BS definitions. Though I’m positive if that was McCabe or Benoit making that same hit they’d have gotten 5 and a game, at least.

That’s where I’m lost, the point of contact was the head, I thought by league rules that is not allowed.

The sent out some video dissecting recent head hits to justify why the hits on Boeser and Nurse were suspensions and this one wasn’t.

Like as far as I’m concerned Knies’ head is the main point of contact, no matter what the voiceover is saying about it being “unavoidable” or Whitecloud hitting his core first. I’m staring right at it, Whitecloud comes in and up, gets Knies’ head first, and then he gets body. It was definitely avoidable but Whitecloud wanted a pound of flesh.

Berube gets a pass from me for calling it legal. My guess is he is just trying to play the good company man. He knows whining about it will do no good but that shouldn’t stop us for calling it out what it was. Illegal!

He should have said debatable but life goes on.

Well he is more old school too .. he probably just wants everyone to move on from it now and not stir the pot

Of all the polls on that site, this one was the most lopsided I saw.

NHL DoPS Delivers Official Ruling on Zach Whitecloud's Potential Suspension for Hit on Matthew Knies

Should Zach Whitecloud have been suspended?

Yes at least one game!96988.3 %
No it was a clean hit!12911.7 %

Pretty much every hockey forum believes the hit was dirty and a headshot. I haven’t waded into the main board thread here but I’d wager good money most posters think it was clean. HF is uniquely anti-Leafs. More so than even Reddit hockey.

Maybe we should complain in the media because towing the company line seems to get us a Toronto tax on any suspensions. I would love for Shanny to just come out and blast them 1 time. He can actually talk from experience to say what they give us for suspensions is BS...because he did it too.
