Your point watching that’s your problem my friend he brings a lot more than points the fact he has 7 points and 6 goals makes his case even more

Just hoping this isn't a dream and smoke and mirrors but part of me hopes he goes into some sort of slump that allows us to sign him to a team friendly deal. Last thing this team needs is to pay for a methane explosion and then be saddled with an average player after

Doesn’t matter, if we take a look at the bigger picture his stats are even worse. In 93 games he only scored 43 points. Even a dog can bring what he brings to the table, remember Hyman? Just because we lack players that has competitive nature doesn’t mean you go out and give big money to anyone.

That’s the worst thing you can do and why this is struggling massively. With 4 dogshit players making 3-4 mil more than what they should each.

Who would you replace him with on the Matthews line?
Why would you want to replace him is the greater question?
They've been excellent. Once Matthews finds his groove they'll be one of the top lines in the league.

ASAP on this deal. Kyper is just hyper inflating the Market w that Slav comparison. Even if it is true, STFU, mannnn!!! lolllll...

That said, we need a 5 on that 8 year deal to make it a steal in the future. Maybe even that 48M total would be a nice team-friendly ceiling.

It's going to be a anywhere between Jake Neighbours and Lafreniere's contract, short term anywhere between 3M and 4M, or longer-term north of 6M probably. It depends on what kind of season Knies as. They are in zero rush to get an extension for very obvious reasons.

100%.

Knies is easily the 2nd best player on that line, along with Matthews….

;)

Knies needs to be extended ASAP, for the maximum 8 years.

The longer the season goes on the more he's going to make, as he should. He'll probably be the 2nd best player on the top line by the end of the year.

He’s a better player than hyman was at his age not even close actually so if we’re paying for projection I can’t tell you the last time we had a young player like him

It was a hypothetical situation ...

I wouldn't but there was a suggestion for him to drive the 3rd. line to prove himself.
Perhaps to balance the lines, which I wouldn't do anyway.

If that was the case, who would you put with Matthews?

Knies, McMann, Paccioretty the options ... Top 2 lines appear to be working ... why change?

Any of those 3 would work on the top line.

but you’ll notice the drop off if Knies isn’t on that line he’s not just the third wheel on that line
Possibly.
I don't think he's a 3rd wheel but we've seen others have success.
I think long term, Knies is the best for the role.
Max Patch I think could be better in a short term but no sense disturbing the 2nd line.
McMann could fill in short term but that's about it.

The goals are there, the assists aren't because once again the PP sucks and Marner and Matthews can't score worth a damn right now.

People need to watch the games instead of looking at box score. He's easily playing like a 30 goal, PPG player.

And Hyman never got anywhere close to 6 mil as an RFA. Well nowadays even the fans are becoming senile by the organization I guess. Toronto Maple Laughs. 😂

How is he not on that level strongly disagree and if he isn’t on the top line that line looks even worst I promise you
Both are 6'3, 225 but Slafovsky scored at a 0.61 ppg pace at 19 where as Knies put up 0.44 ppg at 21 last season. That's quite a difference. I don't think Knies is going to get 7.6 m either.

Knies is doing exactly what Hyman is doing in EDM. Being a big body, getting the puck to big boys, then planting himself at the net and gorging on rebounds. Dave Andrychuk would be proud...

At this rate, Knies shouldn’t come in at more than a number starting with 6 on a long term deal. Roughly what Hyman got when he went to Edmonton but adjusted for the risen cap.

A bridge makes more sense for the Leafs current cap. Jake Neighbours scored 27 goals and got
2x 3,750,000
I'd imagine Knies gets the same

Who would you replace him with on the Matthews line?
I love Knies but he can really help out that 3rd line and he balances out the top 9, while keeping Knies from padding his stats on the first line prior to signing him. Having 2 power forwards on the 3rd in McMann and Knies would be epic, and then reunite Domi-Matthews on line 1. Problem is we don't have a good enough 3 c if we put Domi back at wing, but Kampf or Lorentz can fill that role until we trade for a better 3 c.

Domi-Matthews-Nylander - skill line
Patches-Tavares-Marner - skill/cycle
Knies--Lorentz--McMann - power line
Robertson-Kampf-Dewar - 4th line

I would give him upwards of 7.5 a year on an 8 year steal

Jesus that seems a bit rich, no? ...

I think some of us are guilty of recency bias. The kid is on a heater, lets not give crazy cap hits based off of 11 games of work. Dont get me wrong the kid should get a significant raise, he's that missing power forward that we've been looking for ever since Hyman left..

This is where I was thinking too, a number with a 3 in front of it.
