I just wouldn't have put him in the same potential class as a 1st overall. You are welcome to that opinion. I think we have very different opinions on the player. $7m+ seems wild to me.
1 st OV does not mean they are not having similar career paths. You can adjust for age but the production and usage is similar with both teams. Who is your comparable for a 22 year old power forward then in his second full season? Krieder? He is well on his way to out produced Krieder's first two season as well? Laf another 1st overall? He is well on his way to out produced his first two seasons as well. This is the arguement his agent is going to do and he would be right.

Oh man, this thread is about to get interesting

Anyone who watches the kid knows he is an animal. Drives the net, destroys players like crazy, soft hands, good enough IQ to play with star talent. He has the makings of someone very special.

So let Marner go and sign him long term for big money? Seems like a plan.

Beat the market by overpaying right off the bat certainly simplifies things.

I don't mean he is the best today. The context was in the next 3-5 years when he hits his prime.

Best power forward in the game.. not player
Must be awful, never being right.
We’ve learned that, with your predictions each year. This is the year.

They’ve actually gotten worse 🤣 but HFB appreciate the entertainment,

Are you you to edit your post again to avoid looking bad.

So where do you think Knies ends up when he is done developing then? What is exactly laughable about the prediction? Tell me how wrong I am. Is this laughable because he is top 3 instead of the best power forward?

I'd be fine with giving him 6.5 longterm, slightly below Guenther who is a better player

Knies seems like he can become a 55-70 point powerforward, extremely valuable longterm piece for us

I really have no idea anymore...How would you value him compared to Rossi? Wild have to give that guy a contract and it's about the same situation. Not sure why they didn't even talk extension with him but he's due and only getting more expensive as he produces this year. I was hoping 6x6 or something.

Kid is playing top 6 minutes and brings an element Leafs offense has been lacking for a long time.

He has all the chips on his side for his future contract.

What is the fair value for a long term deal? Not talking about a bridge here.

Guenther's 7.14 M * 8 years is the obvious comparable IMO.

What do you guys think?

He's off to a great start but 7+ million? He's not worth that yet.
