I just wish the league was consistent. If Wilson and Bennett were getting 8 games too, then ok. For Rempe to get 8 when those guys don't get suspended at all feels like the league is picking favorites.

Wilson had a 20 game ban no?

Bennett basically being able to be a dirt bag incognito is valid though. How he's got only a single suspension in his career is mind boggling.

It matters to me in most cases. I hate when a guy is out injured for 60 games but the punishment is only 2 games. Will the Dallas player miss any games?
being injured or not doesn’t matter. It’s the action and intent that does. Just because the player was lucky enough to not be injured doesn’t make the offense any less terrible / gross.

I'm saying it matters to me not to the enforcement people.

If he keeps making stupid dirty plays and injuring opposing players, he's going to keep getting longer and longer suspensions. I'd say it's not rocket science, but with the amount of denial in here, maybe it is for some of you.

Wonder what Tom Wilson's intent was when he slammed Panarin's head into the ice twice within seconds. We all saw the action. The action was pretty clear. So then when Jimmy Dolan called Parros out the league got seriously into a huff and defended him and fined the Rangers. The next game against the Caps is the one Buch highsticked Mantha---a for sure suspension I would think in most cases anyway but not nearly the same level as what Wilson got away with which the league decided to defend.

And in the case last year of Bennett cold cocking and knocking loopy Marchand in the playoffs.....the league decided not to look at the play until after the next game in the series had already been played and because of that the league decided it was too late to suspend Bennett and one could ask two questions there 1) why didn't they take a close look right after it happened? and 2) why couldn't they suspend Bennett anyway?

And the answer to everything is they pick and choose and make things up as they go along however it pleases them.....but they don't like it when people think they're full of shit.

Who did he hurt this time? Besides the feelings of the pearl clutchers who hate him?

Key words: “This time”. He’s hurt numerous players on both legal and illegal hits. He’s received multiple game misconducts for illegal hits. He’s now received multiple suspensions for illegal hits. And he hasn’t played a half season of NHL games yet. Even Raffi Torres and Matt Cooke, 2 of the scummiest players in league history, did not accumulate this many dirty plays this quickly.

I dont think Rempe is malicious, but the only alternative is that he’s painfully stupid. And continuing to play like he has will mean he likely will not play a game in the NHL at the age of 25

Longest suspension for on-ice conduct since 2018. For a hit that resulted in no injury.
Mind blowing but whatever. League clearly doesn't want him playing.

That just isn't true. Injuries always factor in to suspensions in the NHL.

Players get hurt playing hockey. Rempe has hurt guys with clean hits too. Hitting to hurt guys is a little bit of the point but it’s always been part of the game. Rempe is no more intentional than Bennett or Wilson or Kreider. He’s just being punished because he’s big.

What I will say is this. He’s still way too raw to play in the NHL and not be constantly penalized. He needs to be the top minute getter in Hartford through the season. The Rangers failure of leadership has led to Rempe being necessary for the team to play with the proper compete level. And Rempe is being made an example of for it.

Yea I’m kinda dumbfounded by all these people saying it doesn’t matter, in the video breakdowns the DoPS makes they literally highlight the severity of the injury as a reason for the length of suspension

The way I read it, some people say THEY DON'T CARE. They do understand, that it matters to the league, and factors into league decisions. As is just f***ing logical.

Heiskanen is alive and well? 8 games, Heiskanen is not alive and/or well, way more than 8 games.

Raffi Torres would launched himself off his feet into players and a lot of his were blindside hits where a player had no chance of defending himself.

Cooke was the master of the blindsight hit and it's not even a matter of an opponents awareness when a player comes at him from behind and/or to the side and away from his peripheral vision and picks off his head. He also was known very much for his knee on knee hits. He did a shitload of those. Also I don't know if I've ever seen anyone deliberately step down on someone's Achilles like he did to Erik Karlsson.

Which is to say the things those two did are not really all that comparable to Matthew's hits. Heiskanen knew Rempe was behind him and went to peel off the check. Van Riemsdyk wasn't paying enough attention and admiring a back pass he just made. Lyubushkin and Bastian just got flat out overpowered by a bigger, stronger player. The elbow on Siegenthaler was by far the worst he's done and most deserving of suspension.

I don't know why you'd even bring up injuries off legal hits. No penalty but player gets injured---that happens all the time.....something that pretty much every professional player has been on one end or the other over their careers and more often than not multiple times. Should we suspend players anytime an opponent gets hurt?
