I'll agree LeClair is worse. But he was paid less and played less than 50 games.

Yes we've had some worse cup of coffee guys. I guess.

Brian Elliot. Murray actually reminds a lot of Gerber, never smothers the puck just tries to get in the way like watching someone play pong on Atari

This is the real one. He consistently let in the softest, most deflating goals I have ever seen. I remember being absolutely flabbergasted when he went to St Louis and played well during the regular season making the team look like cup contenders. He then followed that up by being absolutely dumpstered by LA in the playoffs. Same old Elliot.

I'll disagree on Leclaire being worse, honestly. When he was healthy, he showed just enough to think that this time would be different. Then he'd get injured and the cycle would start over. With Murray, I'm not sure I've ever seen that burst that makes me hopeful he can improve. He is what he is, and what he is is just not effective on a team that needs him to come up with the big save every now and then.

Is it fair to say he has the worst glove of any starting goalie in the league? Or at least near the bottom.

I’ve never been a big fan of the guy. I guess he has two years to hopefully get better.

Man I was really hoping that Murray getting away from some of the toxic elements of the Pens fanbase would help him find his confidence again. Shit is just sad how bad he is these days.

By toxic did you mean astute?

Nah loud segments our fanbase has a weird infatuation with a certain goalie and an irrational hatred of the goalie that “forced him out of town”.

You guys negative opinions on Murray are all valid, he’s been ass for Ottawa.

what will this team do next year when Gustavsson wants to negotiate early, sees Murray's 6.25 million and goes "I want"?

The Sens will qualify him..and he will get 2-3 million. Play as the number 1 this year and next at $787 K and in year three at 2 or 3 million. All the while he watches the number 2 play 30 games, maybe sit in the stands for a dozen games or so thanks to chronic injury problems..and make 6.25 million.

Gus the Bus is going to be Gus the I ain't happy guy. As not to mention any of the 2 goalies in the minors who may get called up to fill in the 12 games that Murray misses and they do so for 800-900 K, prorated for the 20-30 days with the big club, while Murray plays about 20 games at 6.25 million for the entire season(s)...That goalie room will be made up of the happiest 3 people around. And the 3 guys in minors will be ecstatic knowing their place with the big club is being blocked by Murray. So he makes 6.25 million, they are in the minors at 85 K. The situation now has 3 very happy player agents. Their 5% of 850 K, versus 5% of 85 K.

We all want to see a co-worker be 1/2 as productive as we are and make 8 times more money. Major league F'up by the Sens.

Im sure Gus understands that if he wins two Stanley Cups, he too will get that contract.

Why are you trying to be cute and none offensive? That's the big problem with the Ottawa fanbase. Never demanding accountability. His glove is trash and that problem will never be fixed.
It is 100% health issue. Shoulder, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis ) Some kind of tendons or wrist problems. Murray is hiding and trying to prolong his paychecks. Because the injury could be a career ending and it means what it means. He will not play in NHL and he shouldn't. He does everything humanely possible to avoid starts. Everyone can see this. Dorion oh my Dorion)))

no.....not unless an idiot GM comes around.

This is not royalty and you wait your turn to be made king. This is "what have you done for me lately". No player, no human being wants to see financial reward not reflect pecking order or productivity.

Nick Kyprios explained this clearly. In the locker room, who is making what? is a huge issue and every player pays attention. There is peace when players are correctly slotted and paid relative to productivity. Any long term disturbing of that is nothing but trouble.

No f'ng way Gus, or the 3 guys in the minors will be okay with Murray doing what he has done thus far. They will have no choice as they are RFAs. But if their play starts reflecting their discontent, or if conversely they use the old "pay me or trade me". Or if they sit and bide their time for the first chance they get to leave, you will lose. And again, player agents. If any of them are associated with power broker agents, the Sens could be hurt. 5% of 85 K is 4.25 K.. of 850 K is 42.5 K of 4 million is 200 K..which do you want as an agent?

Murray's agent must have pee'd his pants laughing. $315 K a year for 5 years. A client who is finished. I am not sure who made off better, Murray or his agent!

The Sens had better hope Murray makes a miraculous turn around, or they better throw in a high pick and/or prospect just to move the guy.

I know, but if it isn't one thing it's the other with Murray. I realize you can't dictate when and if an injury is gonna happen - and that it's unfair to blame him, but damn...we'll be lucky to get 8 straight weeks of him in the next 2 years.
You is so right sire. I understand.

Terrible attempt at finding a scapegoat. Murray has hardly played; how could you come to the conclusion that he is the one "sinking" the franchise?

In reality Dorion, the pro scouts and probably Melnyk's wallet are the reason this franchise has taken a massive backward.
No depth; relying on AHL players to play above their means; targeting not "bargain bin" but "garbage bin" free agents.
Your 2021-22 Senators.

I bit of a dip in play from Forsberg yesterday. From the starts he's had for us going back to last year, this was his worst. The team hasn't practiced in a while and he was definitely rusty.

Holy exaggeration batman. Murray is fine.

Murray is fine. He had a rough start to last season, due a multitude of factors including a new team, no pre-season and completely rebuilding his style of play. After that he had touble staying healthy. But when he was healthy, he was great. He had .912 in the 2nd half of last season, including 2 shutouts. Literally the only 2 shutouts this franchise has had since Anderson in March 2019.

This season, he was fantastic until Kreider kneed him in the head. The game against Chicago was by far the worst team effort. Then he played decent game against Tampa, and a good game against Boston.

He's been having trouble staying in the lineup, but this season, none of it is really his fault. First he had a bad flu, then Kreider kneed him in the head, and now he has covid.

March 10th or 11th of 2022. Swiftwin...Please log in and post in this thread.

If he has rebounded as is the team's #1...PLEASE GLOAT AND IN CAPITAL LETTERS.
If not, small caps and humble pie.

I keep waiting for the Logan Brown fans to post and for the Christian Wolanin fans to post. And so on. The rest of us were idiots for doubting them.

Don Sweeny was perfectly willing to eat humble pie. He pretty much has acknowledged f'ng up the 15 draft. Even the Euge once surprised me when he said the Legwand signing was not a success. I wish more people gloated or ate humble pie. It would make for a better forum and life in general. But then, we would have no politicians.

Bookmarked.

Also, don't look at me about Brown and Wolanin. I've always been openly low on those two.

Dorion apologized for “the greatest day” comment, and admitted that Stepan didn’t work out. Do those count?

He also admitted that Dadonov didn’t work…

How much better could the team be right now if they'd instead invested in a couple defenseman what they put in to Murray and Dadonov?

Add that to the cash spent on say MDZ and Gudbranson being replaced by said defenceman and you could have offered a couple whopping contracts like 3-4 year 7-8 mil deals.
