Matty Murray was just sent back down and Hidelby was called back up.

Likely just to trying to extend his waiver eligibility and he would be called back up for his next start.

Yeah basically working out the way I thought they might approach this situation.

Keep Woll's 50% ish start share and just platoon the backup so none of the rookies are taxed too hard. Keep the thing rolling, slot in Murray, Hildeby and maybe Akhtyamov and get through the next few weeks without Stollie.

That and 10 games or 30 days on the active roster and Murray would require waivers to go back down.
Sending him down now allows us to delay that longer. Especially now as he wouldn’t get another game before the Christmas break.

Yeah, basically just yo-yo him and Hildeby up and down, mix in a little Arthur Akhtyamov as needed.

Unsurprised.

He looked awful against Washington.

Was really hoping he could play himself into a backup role and maybe become something of modest value for its to trade but that isn’t happening here.

Just another reminder that Dubas felt this guy could be a starter here……

I don't think they want to use hildeby, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Murray back.

They should give Hildeby some reps. He only has 8 Marlies starts so it's not like he's being developed down there either.

Looks like Akhtyamov's save percentage has been cratering lately too.

I think where they want to use him is the AHL rather than one or two starts every month on the Leafs.

And what I'm saying is that they should make him start at the NHL. He would have started 2 NHL games vs 3 AHL games since Stolarz went down. And why not use Murray as a fodder back-up and call-up Hildeby to start when you need him? They're literally doing the opposite of this. I dunno why they think Murray is more than he is.

Taking practices against the likes of Nylander, Matthews and Tavares can’t hurt. Seeing some of the best shooters in the world

Why do we want to use an inferior goalie, give Murray opportunities in the NHL when he cannot even play in the AHL.
Why doesn't Woll play 5 games in a row, why are we afraid to let him just play...is he that injury prone? This is rediculous. You have 2 good goaltenders and it us expected when one gets hurt the other one should pick up 90 % of the slack. Murray has proved to be incapable in the past 5 years, both physically and mentally.
So let's kill Wolls confidence, let the headache Murray spend more time in our room, send the message to Woll we do not trust him.
This is a joke.
Murray is NOT an insurance policy, he is just known...as being a bad goalie.

If my math is in the right ball park, the goalie start budget looks something like this:

6 weeks x 3.5 games per week = 21 games.

+/- 50% of games to Woll is about 10-12 games.

Leaving 9 to 11 games to be shared between Murray, Hildeby and Akthyamov. Hildeby has played 1 so far, Murray has played 2. So we are down to managing about 7 to 9 more games of back up hockey.

Why doesn't Woll get most or all? Either he is our #1 or could be. Why play inferior talent when unnecessary. When AM is out Willie and Mitchy play more minutes. Why not Woll.

Woll is as fragile as any of them. I think they want to keep him in a platoon's workload and let him build strength and endurance and stay healthy most of all while Stolarz gets right. Don't shock him with number one duties with no safety net. If he gets hurt Murray and Hildeby will be starting a lot more than you'd be comfortable with.

He looked awful against Buffalo as well but got bailed out by a couple coaches challenges. After the first shot hits him he’s flopping around like a fish out of water for any kind of rebound. Its almost Garrett Sparks level
