Guys got talent. There was just no chemistry on that line and thats why he didnt score much. Youll be eating your words when he lights it up with fairy and gets laughed.

On what line? He's been on every line from 1 to 4 during his time on the Kings. He consistently didn't produce anywhere.
And whether he 'lights it up' is not relevant. The Kings lost nothing at all and him not being on the team will have no effect on their success.
Frattin should provide the physical element and has shown he's got the tools to be a good power forward. And there is no lack of prospects coming up.

Penner has a knack for scoring big goals in the playoffs. That is all we will miss.

Even then, how many big goals did he score? Two in 2012 I think, I don't recall if any were 'big goals' this year.

I originally was opposed to the trade, but I support it now because he was big in us winning the cup, but looking just at the numbers, six goals and 16 points in 38 playoff games over two years isn't really impressive. Dwight King had seven goals in 38 playoff games, including some really big ones too and half of us (myself included) want him jettisoned the instant we can find someone better. Personally, I think he's (King) the biggest weakness on this team, for a forward anyways.

Never understood the Penner love. The guy has skills, sure, but they didn't amount to anything outside of a couple of big goals in the playoffs. So congrats, the guy is basically the 2012 version of Chris Kontos, with the added feature of a cool twitter account.

If you forgot about this, I might not forgive you for 5-10 minutes

Tying goal

Go ahead go (we lost this game :( )

Oh right, the goal that Elliot gave us.

It was a big goal, definitely not going to dispute that, but Elliot should have had that one. Slapshot from the point pretty much unscreened. A peewee goalie should have had that one.

The fact you can fit all his goals into one post says enough about all those big goals he scored. I like Penner for his tweets and for his skill level, but not for his production.

You just posted more than 25% of the goals he scored in 161 games with the Kings.

We thought we were getting a 30 goal scorer, I would have settled for a 20 goal scorer. Meaning I expected at least 21 more goals from him while he was here. Those goals you posted were great, big time goals and certainly the first one will be remembered by Kings fans for decades. But realistically, a goal's a goal. They all still count for the same amount on the scoreboard. And considering how many 1-goal game this team wins/loses, I'm not going overlook the 21 goal deficit between our expectations and his performance just because he did come through in a couple of big games. Especially since it means he either got lucky and the timing of the goals was coincidental, or he flat out didn't care for most of his time here and only actually put the effort in during the big games. Either of those are replaceable.

In 117 regular season games (2.25 seasons) as a King, Penner had an amazing 11 goals.

In 44 playoff games he had 7 goals.

Kyle Clifford had 19 goals in 205 games in his 3 seasons as a King.

Dwight King had 9 goals in 80 games in two full half seasons as a King.

See a trend? Those were our other LW options, but both are young, unproven, never scored 30+ goals before or were making over 4 million.

Those numbers are embarrassing for Penner for what he has done and was paid.

If Fratton is good enough to play on a second line with the kings, why was he still spending time in the minors last year with Toronto? At 25 years old you can't really call him a prospect anymore. He'll probably be a part time 3rd liner, and 4th liner.

An injury forced him to spend time back in the AHL to rehab. Had Frattin not have gotten injured, he may have put up 20g.

Frattin has the same problem Brown does (streaky North/South game).

When Frattin stops playing his North/South game, he is not effective.

Same problem Brown has.

Frattin spent the first five days of the 2013 NHL season in the minors, and then was recalled. I think all but two of his games in the AHL last year were during the lockout. He was playing there because he was keeping in shape, same reason other players were in league all over North America and Europe. When the NHL season opened on January 19th, he was recalled five days later.

I think second line LW is Frattin's spot to lose, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Dwight King Pejorative Slur strength muscle his way into that position at points.

Toffoli is going to spend most of the year doing his best to make the Stoll line look offensively relevant at ES and potting goals on the PP with the skill players.

He only graduated college in 2011, and he's not going to be a part time player, DL traded for him to be a full time player on either 2nd or 3rd line. As a power forward and a very physical player, he's needed on the 2nd line and given the new system and coach, and how hard he has been working for it all summer, he should be a good fit on the 2nd.

Yes

I think second line LW is Frattin's spot to lose.
I am not so sure about that.

Exactly.

Frattin will also be on a new team with a new coach and a new opportunity. If I were him, I would train as much as I could with Richards and Carter and try to start forming some chemistry with them if he wants to be a top 6 winger

Same problem Brown has.

If having the same problem Brown has is Frattin's only problem I will gladly take it.

Brown was on pace to score 25-30 goals last season. Sutter knows how to get players to play a north/south game.

He looks very much like a 25-30-point guy who can defend and hit.
A useful player.

A top-sixer? No way.

He'll probably put Jordan Nolan out of a job though.

Why is it just 'no way' he'll be a top sixer?

I'm not saying he will for sure (though i admit to thinkin he can) but what makes you say it's a slam dunk he won't be?

Frattin already has 28 points in his first 82 games. He was on a pace for over 40 points last year. I don't think ending up a top-6 guy is out of the question. Maybe not a game breaker, but he could easily produce like Stepniak, Glencross, or Setoguchi.
