Actually, I think Zuccarello can be a Group VI UFA if he doesn't play in another 20 NHL games this season (regular season and playoffs).

Read up on this now,and there seems to be no reason why he would not be a UFA VI unless he plays in 20 more games

We'd need to go deep into the second round or maybe even into the third round to prevent him from being an overpriced UFA.

He's undersized and soft on the puck. He's somewhat one dimensional, and if he's not scoring I'm not sure how valuable he really is. I need to see more before I'd go so far as to say I'd prefer him in the lineup over some other guys.

Zucc can head for say Detroit if he's offered 1.8 3yr, and the Rangers dont match it. He left 1.7 in Russia, and I'm sure he's gonna look for something like that. He will not stay here for a bag of candy.

He got 1.7 AFTER tax in Russia :)

He is very aware that the US cannot compete with Russia in terms of salary, but thats a non issue for him. Whats important is that they show that they believe in him, and that he is included in their plans.

As for what that means specifically, i dont know (most important i'd imagine is a one-way contract).

Also, as a sidenote, Metallurg, instead of just releasing him, was saying that Zuke is "on loan to the Rangers for the remainder of the season", so if i've understood things correctly, he is still technically under contract with them (which he can break with his out-clause).

Don't think a contract will be considered until sometime during the summer..

I say sign him, can't have too many Creative players on your roster..

It's going to come down to scoring. If Zuucs can put points up and score some timely goals (every goal this time of year is timely), then he will stay a Ranger. If not....

He's a much better player since he came back. I'm pulling for him.

That 1.7 in Russia would also be tax free as I understand it, ie 3.4m in NY basically...

Well I think he's worth close to 2m before tax ;)

And I believe he'll get an NHL-offer like that after this season. Rangers are not the only ones interested, according to his agent.

yeah cause his agent would come and say " zucc has no interest from other teams ... so he is hoping the rangers offer anything becuase zucc will jump at the first offer "

More likely his agent would not mention it at all. Mettalurg put him on loan so he can't go to another club in the KHL if stuff here doesn't work out

He's finished with Metallurg, there's an NHL-clause in his contract. He's "on loan" right now because the contract doesn't expire until the end of the KHL season. Then he can do whatever he wants, and his agent Ryman actually told Norwegian media that other NHL-clubs are interested. But Zucc is an RFA though, Rangers can match any offer and keep him. If he returns to the KHL he will have to go back to Metallurg for another season.

He's -soft on the puck and one dimentional. What does that mean? Soft on the puck, is that the same as soft hands?

Love this one from Loffen.

Really pulling for us to resign him. I loathe how we handled him up until this point.

While he may not been handled perfectly, it's not as if it's been awful...and he did choose to come back here.

The problem with Zuuc in the past was that while displaying talent and creativity, along with a great attitude, he was some what soft on the puck, not very good on his skates and not a good goal scorer.

He's been a much improved player since he came back. But those issues are still there to a degree. The guy has got to put the puck in the net...at least on a level with say Hags. If not he won't play here or anywhere else in the NHL.

I'm sure if he's not scoring and does not stick we will see lots of folks claiming he was treated/coached poorly.

I hope he goes out and scores a hatty tomorrow night. I really want this guy to succeed. He's an extremely likable fellow.

True, but he clearly did good his first time around, even if he was a little weak in certain areas. When players have talent like Zucc does, you deal with the learning problems. He then got sent to the AHL- where he then got called up later the next season, looked just as good, and had a fluke injury end his season. I thought it was clear he brought a great dimension to our bottom six it lacked. Shouldn't have let him go to Russia in the first place.

- But he’s soft on the puck. By that I mean he’s no kind of puck carrier or mover at all

Does that mean that he cannot carry the puck over distances? Not sure, that might not be his most prominent skill, but I think he does just well above average for forwards on this team, lagging Nash, Richards and few others. (Gaborik).

As long as the Rangers wants him he will resign. And he will not demand high salary.
He came now to play for surprislingly 700.000$ a year lasting out this season. You can easily see that he loves to play for the club and gets along with the guys well

But it all depends how he does the rest of the season. He needs to make some production. A shootout specialist alone is not worth alot

I saw a couple of games with the national team early this year. He dominated those games (3 goals). I think he has too much respect for NHL since he does not seem to challenge the same way and go more straight on goal. But he will get there hopefully. He said himself that he was overfired in the beginning.

He is an excellent puck carrier and can really evade checks. No idea where the notion of him being soft came from in the games this season. He's outworking everyone on the ice on the corners.

But Tedenby's better. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: :sarcasm:
