Zuccha has been relatively quiet this season. Hes getting sone points and making some plays, but his game just doesnt seem to be there yet. Im the 1st guy to give Zuccha a pass because hes about as guaranteed to get his 55pts as anyone. But i predicted 70, so i need him to be better and make me right.

I doubt he will get 70 pts @Larrybiv - if the conditions would be better on his line concerning finishing or they hit with the 2018 draft with a wing who can finish plays. Zucc will certainly improve, because he had too many B and C games, and just a couple of A games - way too inconsistent.
Gorton might resign him for a 2-3 years contract, but they won`t give out long term contracts to guys around 30. Ryan Mc. next one as well unless the management have plans to get a hoard of picks in return of Ryan Mc. - he has 8 pts. so he had played better compare to early this season - he started slow too.

Anything can happen, but he has to show something very soon. Playing with Hayes and Nash isn´t helping, but still should play better than this.

pairing him with nash is a damn black hole....they just dont play well together, and the fact that nash cant bury anything doesnt help, he should be playing with miller but that still leaves that line short a goalscorer

He needs a finisher to play with. Unfortunately all 3 of our best shooters are together on one line we’d be insane to break up. Maybe move Grabner up and see if he can function as the trigger man on that line?

It doesn't seem like he has the puck quite as often as he did in past seasons. Less board work as well.

True. I think playing with Hayes is especially not good for him, as a play maker. But he's also touching the puck less on the PP, it seems, as the set ups go through Shatty and Zib and less on the half wall, where Zucc used to be stationed.

Yeah its tough to admit but while Nash has been spectacularly unproductive but he's getting chances.

Zucc has been less noticeable.

Zooks set up Nash for a really good chance last night. He started showing some good legs while killing penalties as well. A big issue is I can count on one hand how many passes Zooks has received from Nash. Put Zooks with Grabner and JT and I bet his game comes alive.

One thing Zooks has really done well this season is working with Shatty to enter the offensive zone on the PP. They have turned a huge weakness from last season in to a real plus. Only problem is Zooks is no longer on the right side wall where he picked up a lot of goals/assists in the past.

Not sure what this coach is doing or thinking - I understand he want Nash to score goals, but the line generate way too little each game and that tells me the chemistry struggle, and too much one man puck possession try to do it all by himself - so it get easy to defend against.

Hard to be as noticeable as Nash. Especially when Nash rarely plays the puck back. He usually goes solo after reciving the puck. So yes, i agree. Nash has been alot more noticeable. Made alot of chances for himself. None for his teammates.
 
is probably playing with the worst two players imaginable. Neither Nash or Hayes could score in a brothel right now and they're not exactly possession monsters.

Zucc would be better off playing with Miller.

Yeah I don`t understand AV decision here - if he want productive NHL lines. Haynes need players like Grabner on his line.

AV use Miller & Zucc usually 4 v 4 or 3 v 3 which is good - I really like them together.
But Zucc might have a down year, guys - he is not looking too confident this year and I don`t know why.

Hayes and Nash are the two most selfish players on the ice. Not easy to play with two guys usually just holds the puck until they lose it. Agree that Hayes should be switched with Miller on that line. Right now the line is useless.

Yup. Mats needs to actually have the puck the be able to set someone up. If he doesn't have the puck and the two other hogs constantly have it, how is he supposed to contribute? Either Hayes or Nash keeps it and neither of them can find Mats with some passing wizardry, but Zuccarello can do the opposite. Nash or Hayes tries to make a power move or deke and usually fail.

It's just a horrible line. He still almost has as many points as Hayes and Nash combined. If Mats wasn't the best player of them all, he wouldn't be on the #1 PP line. Playing with Hayes and Nash is killing Zuccarello's season and how is he supposed to get his game going during these circumstances?

Zuccarello needs a smart center and a goal scorer on his line, not this garbage. Hayes is talented, but is a bad fit with Zuccarello, while Nash doesn't fit with anybody.

I would take a chance with someone like Grabner or Fast with Zuccarello. Miller certainly isn't a bad choice either. Move Nash to the 3rd line, so he can do his one man show power moves into the goalie pads every game and collect his paycheck, while hopefully playing a solid 2 way game.

Agree. I have said this for years now, Zucc and Nash cant play together. It just doesnt work.

The Hayes line with Nash and Zuuc seems to get a lot of icetime against the other teams toplines. Maybe just an impression I get. Maybe someone have stats for this?

IMO not worth anything. If the right return all of a sudden is possible, anything can happen.

Nice to se him finally have a good game again. Best performance by him and his line in a very long time. But his huge misses at the end of the game nearly gave me a heart attack. How is it possible to miss that open net? Thank God the Oilers didn´t tie the game after that....

Yeah that sure was a bummer! Twice!

Can't blame him for being caught off guard by getting a pass from a forward on that line though, lol
