Can't see him take more than a 2 year contract. Knows he's burried under a lot of depth here, two years to UFA to get the bag because he probably thinks he can chase that 4-5M contract.

And I'm happy to give him 2 x 2, basically the inflated Nick Paul.

When you compare their development curves it sure looks to be in favour of Formenton. I like the idea of Joseph on a 3 x 2M deal.

Formenton had a 101 hits last year not exactly soft. He also battles hard along the boards and in front of the net.

Meh … # of hit is a terrible way to evaluate how tough a player is. Nice tools, I prefer Joseph more … mainly because I anticipate Formy’s contract demands are going to be excessive. He has different value at $1.5 vs $3 million.

I like Formy on Joseph’s historical contract structure … and cringe at the idea of him getting something like Whites contract.

Neither player will get a white level contract

We've got that top 6. Chabot signed. Sanderson in the queue. There isn't going to be money for 3rd and 4th liners to be getting deals above 3m.

Get ready for interchangeable parts in the bottom 6 cause it's coming

I like Boucher and Greig’s projection on the third line anyway vs Formy and Joseph.

Cheaper and tougher

I mean I don’t understand how you can simply ignore or choose to not use hits as a way to show physicality with a player.

And the entire Joseph vs Formenton debate is silly. We can keep both

That sounds good. Also a two year contract keeps the kid on his toes and playing his best every night working for his next contract. That kind of cheap, hard-working bottom six player is what we're going to need going forward to be successful with all the big money contracts we have now.

This year … yes. That 3LW spot is Ridleys very soon.

Formenton has zero leverage, 1 year cheap contract puts a decision off until next off season. I’d give Joseph what’re term keeps his AAV under 2M.

Ridley will not end up being cheaper than Formenton unless you are strictly talking about ELC.

He projects to score more at minimum let alone his full 200' game.

Boucher is a total question mark at this point.

We have Ridley locked up on his ELC for three years plus he will be negotiating off 3-4L ice time likely not as generous as Formy’s 2021 usage.

As You said he projects to be much more of a complete player committed to a 200ft game which will cost him some scoring chances that the Formy gives himself with his “him first” mentality.

But why get rid of him now? Depth is good and Greig isn’t passing Formenton next year. One can play 3LW and the other 4LW. Joseph plays RW so he doesn’t interfere with Formy either.

I’m confused by your lack of likeness for Formenton at the moment

Only to improve the defence . We have world class forwards and sub par defence. He’s the valuable,
Expendable piece IMO.

So Joseph filing for arbitration .. Sens likely offered under 2. If they can't get a deal done I would expect something over but close to 2.

Likely just filing before the deadline no? I wouldn’t be surprised if Dorion and Ryan haven’t had a chance to talk contract with Joseph yet.

They’ve been pretty busy lol

Greig will be coming in to a more mature and skilled team so makes sense he won't play up the lineup like Formenton was able to but let's not forget Formenton earned his ice time by playing well in the AHL and then becoming an elite PKer - he is already incredibly valuable.

Also the bolded is nonsense. Now you have taken to insinuating Formenton is selfish? You also call him soft which he obviously isn't. Is he the new whipping boy?
