Nope. These are rebuild offers and the Isles aren't rebuilding (also: I think Wings fans had made a better offer on their board from a futures standpoint). The only thing they're considering this offseason is hockey trades. If the Isles aren't in good shape next year then they might consider more drastic changes.
Fair enough. Curious what the wings offer was?

I'm guessing the OP is new to hockey. The list of UFA's he's hoping on is unlikely to be even one guy by the time we get there and now you've traded your 1C.

You can hope for a JT situation but I don't think any of those guys have ties to the Islanders. There is also the matter of other teams competing at that time.

It would be baffling if they traded Barzal, enjoy what you have man, he's pretty good.

They had a long thread about it with a bunch of different suggestions but one I recall was a first, Edvinsson, plus more (I thought someone had included a third high level asset but I might be mistaken on that). I see another suggested Zadina as the main prospect coming back, and... meh. To be clear I wasn't that enthusiastic about the Wings stuff either, and I think a lot of them were just hyped over the goofy Staples joke. If we were thinking about trading Barzal for futures I'd prob be looking at this the same way that Arizona is handling the Chychrun situation.

From the Sens any interest in something like 2022 1st + Alex Formenton + B Prospect?
Upgrade Formenton, make the 1st a 2023 instead of 2022 and maybe we can talk. Also, by B prospect, who are you talking? Isles have no use to trade Barzal for a downgrade in both player and position.

The resounding offer would be Lil Bert, 1st, and a b lvl prospect/roster player. Edvinsson isn't going to be traded as it's our most promising LD and a position we sorely lack competence at the NHL level. Filling the 2c slot to then lose our hopes on LD doesn't make sense.

I have a feeling if Matthews is going UFA, he's looking to head to Arizona.
If Arizona signs Matthews, they'll probably also be able to get another big name player on the pretense that they are going to "be good".
They'll have a series of recent top draft picks ready to make the team and bust out around that time.
Figuring that's Arizona's game plan in any case.
Why do people actually think Matthews would sign with a franchise that had issues paying OEL on time.
I understand Matthews is from there but why on earth would he sign with a team that likely will never be able to pay him on time?
I bet you Leafs pay him his full amount every July 1st except a league min salary just like Tavares
Why would he pass something like that up for a team that can only fit 5k fans in their building?

I feel him going to Arizona is basically slim to none

Every free agent class looks awesome 2-3 years ourt. The reality is they can’t sign extensions until they have 1 year left on their deal, so a ton of these guys will resign.

Think your aiming too high here and previous asks
Barzal that close to UFA traded and even extended doesnt get you a return like what ur asking.
No way in hell Ottawa would move on from their 1st and if they did no way in HELL it would be unprotected in the Bedard/Michkov draft. No Way In Hell
Barzal doesn't hold that kind of value
Islanders are better off trying to resign themselves to keep and build around

your literally asking for more than Eichel got in the couple Ive seen

The Isles have no need to downgrade that much in hopes to rebuild by losing their most dynamic piece and replacing it with hopes and dreams. Who are we talking when it comes to a b prospect? If it’s an undersized soft defenseman or perimeter forward who’s upside is maybe a middle 6 winger, the Isles pass.

They could pay him in shares - make him the next Mario Lemieux.
Matthews could be the marquee piece of the ownership group in Arizona.

Well we'd be losing our 1C to fill a LD slot. Maybe it just wouldn't work out.

Is Matthews really going to want to play in an arena with the same capacity as a poorly attended high school hockey game?
Everyone has their own priorities, and only Matthews knows his, obviously. But if I were in his shoes, and I’m just postulating. As long as I knew it wasn’t forever, I wouldn’t care to much about about the venue if it meant me being able to be home. Aslong as there was a plan for an improvement. And again, everyone has their own priorities. But I’d overlook quite a lot to be able to play in my home state if I were an athlete.

Iafallo at 28 who hasn’t sniffed 20 goals (topped out at 17 in 19-20) once in his career? Isles pass. His career high of 43 points isn’t even impressive nor would do anything except set the Isles back.
That's okay and understandable. There's also no way the Kings are sending Brandt Clarke your way either.

Just because Isles dont have need to downgrade means these crazy asking prices are realistic.
should just keep Barzal because for what he would likely get would just disappoint you
it seems like what you want would make sense but it doesnt teams just dont give up that kind of value

yeah I dont think so. Matthews may end up in Arizona one day but it will likely be in the final couple of years before retirement
like players dont really go home as much as you think or would like them to.

There’s no real plans to trade Barzal and the offers have been awful for the Islanders honestly. A middle 6 forward, 1st and average prospect just won’t cut it. That just honestly seems counterproductive and would just scream player wants out so dump him cheap. As much as people hate to see it, Barzals age and play style prove he can go for an Eichel style package/a bit more.
