Hard to even know if this thread is serious but I’ll engage nevertheless. They are winning without him.
If it was for futures, James Hagens and other blue chip prospects. No a Nick Robertson equivalent from Buffalo doesn’t count. What do the Isles need?
Buffalo is looking to make a big trade from media reports. Assuming that Buffalo and the Isles are talking, what would the Isles be looking for?
Uh what?If it was for futures, James Hagens and other blue chip prospects. No a Nick Robertson equivalent from Buffalo doesn’t count.
Outside of high end prospects to restock the farm system, the only way I see Barzal getting moved is a hockey trade. Buffalo doesn’t move any of the equivalent top 6 forwards it would take if Barzal was on the table.Uh what?
I asked what the Isles needs were. I didn't propose anything.
Isles pass.Maybe Something like Cozen's and Quinn for Barzal , but both sides probably say no.
Mathew Barzal
DOB 5/26/1997
Height 6’o
Weight 189
Birth Coquitlam British Columbia
Contract Remaining 7 years $9,150,000
Not crazy about the contract.
Seattle
Eduard Sale + 2025 2nd Round pick
Vancouver
Tom Willander + 2025 2nd Round pick
Calgary
Samuel Honzek + 2025 2nd Round pick
Utah
Dmitry Simashev + 2025 2nd Round pick
Winnipeg
Colby Barlow + 2025 2nd Round pick
Vancouver might not have the cap space.
Seattle will get Gourde and Tanev off the cap next year.
Winnipeg will get Iafallo,Appleton off the cap next year.
This is a cap dump for the Islanders
If Conroy, as described, thinks there is Rantanen upside still(or atlkeast higher than barzal), why would he trade it for a 1b center? The preseason showed us he atleast isn't a bust. I personally don't see Rantanen upside, but definitely higher ceiling than Barzal. Why?
Isles would pass at the original offer you posted. Upgrade the prospect, make the 1st a 2025 instead and then start from there.2026 1st
Cowan
Jarnkrok? (We need to send back some kind of $$, he's a fine bottom 6 winger, 2.1M x2 more years)
Not sure what else you want? prospects? picks?
We had Chadwick...Hildeby...other picks...

Still not going to work. Jarnkrok just won’t do it as the offset. Isles have enough of those 4th liners at the moment. Horvat isn’t available. The only way I actually see Barzal being moved is either he wants out or a hockey trade with a comparable player (play driving offensive threat with a similar contract) coming back in return. The Leafs aren’t moving a comparable player.Leafs don't have a 25 1st unfortunately and Cowan is probably considered our best prospect, think he's in a lot of the top prospect lists for the NHL, just won a bunch of MVP awards etc in the OHL.
Leafs would likely have to add secondary pieces like a 2nd or an additional prospect.
Also open to Horvat instead if the price is lower.
Interesting. I never offered anything from Buffalo’s side, so you’re just assuming things.Outside of high end prospects to restock the farm system, the only way I see Barzal getting moved is a hockey trade. Buffalo doesn’t move any of the equivalent top 6 forwards it would take if Barzal was on the table.
Proven top 6 scoring that can play responsible defensive hockey.Interesting. I never offered anything from Buffalo’s side, so you’re just assuming things.
So we’re still at square one. Any chance you, or any other Isles fan, just answers my only question? What do the Isles need?

Why only Western Conference? It's not fair.![]()
