This is the move. No overreacting during the season, just sell the pending UFA’s. Barzal and Dobson moves only happen in the off-season anyways
Sign Rempe to one of those max term/AAV contracts with a full NMC that’s buyout proof and then the Isles and Rags can talk trades.
Don’t like any of those really, but it’d have to be with the Sabres but not for Cozens, don’t like his contract at all. Probably includes Byram or Power, but personally I only do it if Power is involved. Moves one of the Sabres too many LHD, and gets a quality top end forward, and the Isles get a bonafide top pair player.
I don't like Cozens' contract either but the reality of the NHL is you'd have to take back significant money in any deal. Not sure I'd do Power for Barzal if I was Buffalo -- feel like it doesn't really get them anywhere
Idk maybe the Isles add a young player and the Sabres add another contract, but in reality its exactly what the Sabres need. They need prime scoring players. People will say to add veterans because they have too many young guys in their lineup, but if you get a player in his prime, he can carry the load and let young players develop just as much. It's obviously more expensive than getting another veteran ufa, but if the team wants to go anywhere they'll need something like this. In fact the Isles should probably be adding forwards to their team, but for this type of deal it helps get the timing of the team down instead of the core being of all ages.

Not trying to split hairs because I think it’s close… but Isles are trading a center (although he played wing last season) and a first pairing RHD for a winger and an LHD. I know Robertson has the 40 goal seasons and call me crazy but I think there’s a small add from Dallas here. That being said, it’s definitely intriguing
I think it’s is very good proposal. Shocking equal value for this board. Harley is a better defender and Robertson is a better goal scorer. Barzal is a much faster compared to Robertson and he is center compared to winger. Dobson is a RHD compared to Harley being LHD. So value on both sides.
I can see that…especially with concerns over Robo’s goal decline the past few years. Not sure if it’s injury related or not. But wouldn’t argue against Dallas adding.
Come on now. Robertson scored 110 points and finished 4th in Hart voting two years ago. Robertson's "down" year last year was just as productive with better underlying metrics as Barzal's "resurgence"
Yes, and he's off to another very non 40 goal 110 point pace this season. Barzal didn't have a resurgence, he got a new coach and wasn't playing with third liners for the first time in his career. He's been about as consistent as it comes, although I understand why people who are looking at the scoresheets would think otherwise. And he can play C. Dobson without question out values Harley. So like I said it's intriguing, it's close and I'd prefer to see a small add from Dallas.
