This is intriguing, gives us a handedness mismatch on D but it’s not the worst problem in the world

Robertson and Dallas supposedly far apart on contract negotiations- Dallas finally resolves their RD hole.

I have no idea whether this actually works for NYI.
Same here

keep Barzal and when he returns move him back to center - let Roy figure out the linemates

get best available package for Nelson and Palmieri , extend Tsyplakov and perhaps see what you have in XYZ from the farm to finish off the season
This is the move. No overreacting during the season, just sell the pending UFA’s. Barzal and Dobson moves only happen in the off-season anyways

If there are Vancouver fans out there, here's a hockey trade to consider instead of a futures trade. This assumes everyone is healthy and players would extend:

Barzal, Cizikas, Wahlstrom and Maggio or Bolduc (so you can decide if you want a W prospect or a D prospect)

for

Boeser, Garland and Sherwood

But I wanted Boeser with Barzal, when he was wanted out from Vancouver.

He's not quite good enough and makes too much money IMO for a contender to want to package other parts to upgrade for (a la Tkachuk to Florida) and is definitely nowhere near a distressed enough asset for more of a pure cap move (PLD to Washington). NHL teams are also not bold enough to do a pure star-for-star trade that you'd probably hope for. That leaves basically just the non-playoff teams hoping to make it in. Think you're probably looking at something similar to the Sergachev deal in the summer, maybe a little bit more as I think Barzal's reputation is still higher than Sergachev's.

Barzal to Seattle for Wright, Gourde, and Burakovsky
Barzal to Buffalo for Cozens, choice of Kulich/Ostlund/Helenius, 25 1st
Barzal to Utah for Macelli, choice of But or Simashev, Hayton

Don't see any other fit really

Don’t like any of those really, but it’d have to be with the Sabres but not for Cozens, don’t like his contract at all. Probably includes Byram or Power, but personally I only do it if Power is involved. Moves one of the Sabres too many LHD, and gets a quality top end forward, and the Isles get a bonafide top pair player.

I don't like Cozens' contract either but the reality of the NHL is you'd have to take back significant money in any deal. Not sure I'd do Power for Barzal if I was Buffalo -- feel like it doesn't really get them anywhere

Idk maybe the Isles add a young player and the Sabres add another contract, but in reality its exactly what the Sabres need. They need prime scoring players. People will say to add veterans because they have too many young guys in their lineup, but if you get a player in his prime, he can carry the load and let young players develop just as much. It's obviously more expensive than getting another veteran ufa, but if the team wants to go anywhere they'll need something like this. In fact the Isles should probably be adding forwards to their team, but for this type of deal it helps get the timing of the team down instead of the core being of all ages.

This is a very intriguing proposal. I’m really interested in what people say to this. I’m not a fan of either, but to me this might work/make sense.
