Mason McTavish Playing GREAT

Ducks are getting awesome contributions from unexpected places. Vets like Vatrano and Strome. Young stars like McTavish, Leo and Minty. And then you’ve got Dostal in net at 4-1 rocking a .921 SV%.

But for me the most unheralded guy of all is LaCombe. Almost 23 minutes tonight - quiet game for the most part but he’s getting even more minutes than Minty working across from Fowler.

Then consider Terry and Zegras haven’t gotten going, Drysdale is not even close to having shaken the rust off, Killorn has yet to play and you’ve still got Luneau and Zellweger among others on the way - and this Ducks rebuild starts to take shape much, much faster than we may have originally thought. Even when streaky guys like Strome and Vatrano start to fall off some - there’s a ton of growth slack left on the roster already.

Insanity that McTavish and his elite one-timer from the right half boards can’t draw onto the Ducks’ PP1 over Zegras in that spot. Oh no, can’t take an OZS over the golden boy.
McTavish’s unit has been getting more PP time than Zegras’ unit lately. Neither unit is all that great, to be fair.

The funny thing about this thread - I'd argue that Terry's poor play has been one of the main reasons Zegras' numbers have been down. Zegras hasn't scored much and looked a little rusty to start the season due to his holdout. But he's playing a pretty solid 200 foot game and is still driving a lot of possession/generating scoring chances.

What's with these low effort threads? If you're going to make a thread like this about a player, talk about the type of game he plays, what he's improved at over last season, what's contributed the most to his early success etc.
People just typically look at stats and thats it lol.

Always been high on McTavish. Stole him in my dynasty league. Dude is just an extremely smart player with a deadly shot. Hes not always going to wow you with flash and dash but he knows where to be and can make the right play. Think he ends up bein a really good 2-way ppg C with some bite.
