I see he's an instant Oiler favorite, taking Tkachuks spot!
Yup. Definitely carrying the torch.

Pospisil should and will get a suspension there, you can’t throw that hit. But just as much as what Pospisil did needs to be removed from the game, everything Dunn does needs to go as well. Guy willfully sets up with his back facing everyone else 3-4 feet from the boards. He’s putting himself in an extremely vulnerable position to protect the puck knowing players can’t hit him legally. He catches the puck, then sets up in that position, then even shoulder checks both directions to see his options instead of moving his feet.

Pospisil was an idiot for throwing the hit, but plays like this one and Tkachuk the other day where players are purposefully setting up in dangerous positions to “protect” the puck are causing the uptick in bad hits the last few seasons.

McLain, last season Dennis Gilbert. And no, not every team has a guy like Gallant running amok. Not every team has a guy who throws a hit as utterly despicable as Gilbert's intentional flying elbow into Linus Karlsson's head last season.
Neither McLain or Gilbert are dirty players. Tough to play against, yes

The only thing causing the uptick is players not getting the message that you can't hit in this situation. Nothing Dunn did was against the rules or even in poor taste. He's not the cause of this hit.

There are dozen of instances every game where a dman protect a puck like this and forwards pin them to the board with no problem.

The first hit was legal, just ugly and unfortunate.

Second hit merits a suspension.
The issue on the Dunne hit is he looks up I turns, sees him coming but make no effort to protect himself. I think the flame could have still hot him but not a Defcon 5 hit. It does happen so fast that you blink and miss it but there was intent to put dunne through the boards.
Definitely a 1game suspension.

Definitely a 1game suspension.

Both players did a poor job of protecting themselves, but the burden is still on the player delivering the hit to deliver the hit legally.

Yup

Pospisil is a known dirtbag across multiple leagues, and i figured sooner or later he’d start doing this shit at the NHL level.

Flames also have another guy Adam Klapka who’s just as dirty as him down in the minors
The flames are one of the chipper teams with Andersson and Dube (b4 the issues) leading the way

Dunn puts himself in a bad spot though, turns his back to the play to catch a pass and then just sits there, and stops moving his feet. Makes himself a sitting duck. The league has demonstrated though that all the onus is on the hitter though, i guess.

But that's why I don't think the hit is that bad, borderline hit that went wrong way for posposil.

Thats 100% dirty

Dunn did absolutely nothing wrong, it’s not like he turned at the last second

It's not classless to post a clean hit, which that was. The one on Dunn is from behind, for sure.

And if I'm not mistaken Larsson was fine.

We should be celebrating big hits, not avoiding posting or sharing them because we don't want to offend.
He makes contact with both player's backs and they both go head first into the boards. Neither hit was clean.

I agree the burden should be on the player making the hit but we all know how hockey ops view these things and the lack of respect players have for each other in general. Would Dunne takea run at a player like Prospil did? I suggest he might.
When these guys havean opportunity to lay someone out unless it is a softy like Kyle Connor, Mitchy Marner or Sid the Kid.

I have seem Big macJesus and Drisidel take runs at players.
