Our window will be wide open as long as we have stars that carry they're load and work their ass off. Just look into Boston as an example. That isn't worrying thing, if we can draft ok and keep our core the window can be open for 5-10 years, but at moment the effort isn't there. Time we have, but we need the effort.

What's FAR more common in the NHL is for a team to continue trying something that repeatedly has been failing. That's far more likely what we're witnessing right now.

The Bolts were a dynasty by 2019 compared to us. They had 3 very deep runs
They followed suit with 2 cups and 3 finals appearances while being a top 3 contender this year again

I've said since his contract shitshow. He needs to be traded. He isn't clicking. Toronto isn't working for him. Multiple coaches and GM's have been unable to make him show up for hockey games.
Let Big Boy Marner go earn his NHL 24 cover in Columbus or Dallas. Get some players who WANT to play hockey in Toronto, on the team.

During the 92 playoff run Marty Mcsorley tried to kill Gilmour who made the mistake of cutting across the ice on the “trolley tracks”. Clark jumped the guy who had maybe only a couple inches in height but had about a 40 pound edge on him and was one of the league’s heavyweights.
If someone ran a Leaf that way these days Marner or Matthews (any current leaf actually) would put their heads down and go back to the bench like a bunch of pansies while their teammate is stretchered off.
Please choose someone other than Clark to trash, please. That guy had more heart then this entire current Leafs squad put together. His point totals may not be gaudy, you seem to focus on that so whatever, but the guy did something every single shift, even if he wasn’t scoring he was finishing checks, crashing the net, fighting the other teams goon or rat, doing something to turn the momentum.
