Would be a great starting point for conversations if Lindholm were available, but he's not.

This is going to go no where.

I realize Lindholm has proven much much more thus far, but if I was Leafs mgmt I would not give up on Marners potential until I know exactly what he becomes. He's a player that if you trade away it's going to bite you in the ass.

Ducks say no because Lindholm is their 1D, and is much more proven in the NHL.

This would make sense if we could trade Gardiner for Trouba.. and find a way to abolish the salary cap so we could actually afford both of them.. and then find a new top line winger on an ELC without giving up assets. But other than that, definitely doable.

So receiving a 22 year-old #1 D is getting bitten in the ass? lol ok then..

If I'm the Leafs, I take this and run. Marner will be good, but Lindholm is a big young top pairing defenseman who would really round out their defense. They have plenty of young forwards as is.

Mitch Marner is going to be every bit as good of a player as Matthews. Marner is as untouchable as Matthews. Nylander I could make a case for but I like some of the kids the Leafs have in the system (Neilson, Dermott) and have 0 interest in moving Nylander because the leafs D could sort its self out from with in.

I'd give Ehlers or Connor from the Jets for Lindholm, easily. I'm surprised any Leaf fans are saying no to this. I don't think Marner is on another tier than those guys.

That D is basically more reason why Toronto would do this trade.

The type of trade I don't have an answer for. On one hand getting lindholm would be amazing anf he would be our best dmen, on the other hand marner has elite potential and in a 8 game sample size has been the leafs best player, plus we have rielly who is amazing himself and a LHD like lindholm. Sadly the leafs would need to give up a big 4 piece to get lindholm and I don't want to trade any of those guys. I can understand the ducks wanting to keep lindholm as he helps them win now more than marner. I don't think the leafs and ducks are good partners. The closest trade would be jvr for Fowler and I wouldn't do that. I'd rather have jvr than fowler, and that's not counting the lhd-rhd problem and the ducks cap limit.
