He is allowed to enforce his NTC. The odd thing is that he wants to stay in Toronto but many fans will resent him for not waiving
Is that what you do?Do you let your wife's boyfriend sleep at the house?
He can barely handle the Toronto media and fanbase. Montreal would skin him alive.Marner will look good in a habs jersey if he goes UFA
Sure, especially if decides to become a free agent. He is allowed to enforce his NTC. The odd thing is that he wants to stay in Toronto but many fans will resent him for not waiving
I wonder if the issue wasn't just the NTC but that he didn't want to sign an 8 year extension with Dallas. Maybe he wants that free agent experienceSure, especially if decides to become a free agent.
He would have to choose free agency for that. He has earned the right to choose free agency. He will effectively be a ufa and choosing wherever he wants if stl and Toronto do a sign and trade. Every team will be calling Toronto and Marner will be able to make a decision. There’s a reason to do this before July 1:
We could attempt to sign him as a free agent past July 1st but - we can’t kinda - Kyrou kinda fills the slot Marner would fill, Marner doesn’t really work with our cap so long as we have 2 other 8 million dollar wingers. Many suitors will be in a similar position: The expiring contracts this year are paltry. There isn’t a ton of top 6 churn this offseason. It will be somewhat difficult for Marner to get what he wants if the number of teams that can fit him is small. There is always a cost to make room. A hockey trade opens the room for the deal in an efficient manner. We’d need to open the space for Marner to be installed into the depth chart.
How could Habs fans watch that 2021 series and still want Marner on their team?Marner will look good in a habs jersey if he goes UFA
It would have been with Carolina. He might want to choose free agency. He will have earned the right on July 1.I wonder if the issue wasn't just the NTC but that he didn't want to sign an 8 year extension with Dallas. Maybe he wants that free agent experience
I mean...if he wants to stay in Toronto....sign with us? Words aren't worth much tbhHe is allowed to enforce his NTC. The odd thing is that he wants to stay in Toronto but many fans will resent him for not waiving
He wants to be treated like a god, so yes, he wants the free agent experience. He craves attention.I wonder if the issue wasn't just the NTC but that he didn't want to sign an 8 year extension with Dallas. Maybe he wants that free agent experience
He might not want to be treated like a god, but he has said that players are treated like gods in Toronto. He wants to be treated like a god, so yes, he wants the free agent experience. He craves attention.
Marner gone. No Rantanen. Nylander looking forward to 25 minutes a game and rest when he should back check. Win win
Leafs have 27.5 million to spend on forwards this offseason.Leafs would be forced to split up the core and have 14M in cap space to improve the forwards with. Far too many variables to guess what happens after
He will do what he wants.Marner will remember that the team tried to trade him.
He is not about to uproot his life on a whim for 2 months. Of course he blocked it I don't blame him.
He will weigh his options in the summer when it is a more appropriate time to move and talk it over with his wife and where they might want to raise a kid that is on the way. Likely isn't gonna feel the love from a program who just tried to trade him.

We have the 3rd line C now.Knies taking like 6M of that. So like 21M to find a 2nd line center and a top line winger plus a 3rd line C.
No Leafs fan with a brain gives a shit ahout his performance in the regular season anymore and nor should anyone else.Over the last 5 years Marner has more points than:
Nikita Kucherov, Auston Matthews, Sidney Crosby, and Matt Tkachuk and then 99% of nhlers too. He’s 7th out of ~2,100 total players over the 5 years. He's in the 1% of the 1%.
If your opinion is that he is overpaid or didn’t live up to his deal….my opinion about that would be it’s time to recalibrate expectations.
He’s worth whatever a team can afford in terms of cap structure. The cap will prevent him from being overpaid. Nobody else gets him on their team when he’s on yours. That’s what you’re paying for too. If you don’t want to spend what he costs; you can always downgrade and settle for less, 31 teams will be doing this, many against their will.
I mean...you don't have to be convinced but that is going to be his role with us and he is signed for next season.I'm not convinced.

Hootenanny.Now that would have been a hoe-down
Maybe if he weren't awful to deal with at the negotiation table and he didn't play scared in the playoffs we wouldn't be so aggravated with him?He is allowed to enforce his NTC. The odd thing is that he wants to stay in Toronto but many fans will resent him for not waiving
