Nice try, but it really doesn't matter. What you should have said after a season or two at most is that Mitch Marner is one of the greatest Leafs of all time because it was obvious to anyone except the Haters.
Telling the truth isn't trying, it's just telling the truth. And hater's such a stupid term to begin with but you labelling me a hater despite me being a huge Marner fan is even more stupid. I don't know what your problem is pal, you keep repeating the same lies over and over again, I suggest you find a new hobby.

I'm sorry I don't post as much when I'm happy with the teams performance as I do when I'm upset.

You know, every happy family is alike, but every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. Anna karenina.

But I feel obligated to say given all the shit I talked... that was an excellent playoff performance from Marner. Wow. I thought he was too soft for that. Glad I'm wrong. Great job mitch.

@ACC1224 hope you like me just a bit more

Marner fixed the "cute" problem last game, scooping puck in the net instead of some weird pass.

He's still not that good otherwise though. Matthews had a 36% xGF last game but he didn't actually play bad. It's that low because Marner still hasn't figured out how to make it work when he's carrying the puck. The points he pile up so far is hiding this. He didn't do much (offensively) outside slapping the puck hard.

If he keeps putting puck in net it doesn't matter though. But realistically for entire playoffs he needs to be good at everything.

He was great last game, such garbage lol.

He was 100 xgf% at 3 nothing and Tampa never made it to 3. Don't know wtf you are talking about

Marner through 3 games with Tampa last year was playing fantastic and looked incredible.

Marner has been kinda sub-par this year through 3 games but is destroying the scoreboard, 8 freaking points 3 games. I firmly believe we haven't seen Marner's best, and it's gonna come very soon.

The playoffs

8 points in 3 games.

5v5:

xGF%: 63.17 (+17.15)
GF%: 74.73 (+32.70)

Dominance with a really mature defensive approach. Weirdly flying under the radar for leading the playoffs in points.
Interesting that his hard results (gf and ga) actually lag the expected outcome (xgf and xga)
Say what you will but his so called low key game is contributing to wins. Beyond his xgf%, his xgf% rel tells a story of carrying some laggards.
Don't get me started on his key penalty drawing contribution.
The area I can agree with his critics is that he can play better.

Only in leafland can you get 8 points in three games be one of the best each game defensively and kill penalties and actually hit for your size and posters complain

Complete bullshit by haters
He makes a million little plays a game that people sleep on, I’ve just concluded they just didn’t get it. It’s why ex players and coaches love him.

Having all around contribution series, and if you’re paying attention, he’s physically stronger in the dirty areas, which is a real plus.

That to me has always been what makes him so much fun to watch, and is a big reason why I just love watchin him kill penalties.

What you say about being stronger in the dirty areas is very interesting, maybe next game I'll drink less (make that definitely going to drink less) and pay attention to this.

I’m not suggesting Marner is some monster on the wall, he isn’t at all and physically he’s still limited. What you do notice this year however, he can stay on his feet, angle off for the puck, hold off the defender. He’s also going to the front of the net sometimes as well, these are new wrinkles to his game. His frame is such he’s always going to rely on being slippery, but he’s less over matched than years prior that’s for sure.

LOL I didn't take it that way at all, believe me. Something more along the lines of what you're saying makes sense, and he's such a smart player so not surprising he's adding new wrinkles to his game. :)

Magic Mitch...he always has used his intelligence to make so many little plays thar go unnoticed by many.
Copper is focusing on him and they still can not stop him from creating offense.
I was sold on him before he played one game in the NHL. We got a generational player, two generational players in one draft is so very rare. Best Defensive player in the league will scoring among the leaders in the NHL is what makes him generational.

Thank you Hunter!

Leafs may have two wins, but everyone agrees they have been outplayed in two of the three games. Everyone was bad in game 1, and if you were paying attention in the gdt yesterday before leafs tied it up, many were unimpressed with Marner (along with Nylander and Tavares). Matthews, Rielly and Oreilly we're leafs best players yesterday. Without them, Tampa cake walks this one.

Marner hasn’t been on the ice for one even strength goal against this series. TB hasn’t scored on the PP the last two games. Leading the league in playoff scoring. Hopefully he picks it up soon.

It's really quite something so far.

Both he and Matthews have been excellent so far.

You can win games while playing unimpressive. The people unimpressed by Marner are fine where they are, I agree he's been sub-par 2 out of 3 games. Problem is is that when the puck is on his stick - it's been going in the back of the net. Alot. Goals are what win games at the end of the day. Marner producing at this pace all but guarantees we are winning the series shortly.
