Seems highly unlikely that ANylander is going to become that much of a prick on the ice to worry about that. In the meantime, the Marlies get a very good AHL-level player which they have done before.

Don’t get why a team didn’t take a flyer on him. CBJ picked him up as a reclamation project, he reclamation like an animal, looked to have found his scoring touch in the League. The draft pedigree plus that performance should have got him a look somewhere.

Good and bad singing. Nylander is a great player who has NHL potential. He will live with his brother which is great. But, Toronto has offensive depth.. a lot of it and he strikes me as the kind of guy that will need top 6 time and pp time to shine. Not sure he can get that on a stacked forward squad in Toronto. He will probably tear up AHL.. get called up when injuries happen and get bottom 6 limited minutes and be sent back. Think he would have benefitted going to a team that needs goal scoring.

He is abolutely NOT a great player.

They don't need the contract slot though perhaps they can use the AHL deal to get around waivers if he doesn't make the team outright or if there is a cap issue that they have to solve.

If he impresses to a point where his services would be needed with the Maple Leafs, the franchise could always convert the deal to an NHL deal. I think Alex will impress, I kind of hated how he was used by Sullivan and was happy to see him thrive, even if it was in CBJ. It'd be cool to see brothers on the same team again in the NHL.
