What’s his contract situation in Russia?

He is on loan there, just like Ovchinnikov and Hildeby with their respective teams.

We can call him back at any point, and I think Ufa is fine with doing whatever is best for him and his career at this point.

I guess Putin doesn't run the KHL... fortunately.

Niemela playing all situations for Karpat. They are cycling between 4 dman on their power play now though which kind of sucks. I was worried about that with the addition of a top pairing dman Rundblad. Only the 3rd game so that could change, but he’ll float around 18 minutes a night this year

Ncaa guys are starting on october 1st. Going to be interesting to see:
- where schingoethe slots in
- how tverberg manages a lower quality of teammates
- if joe miller was better than i last saw him
- does knies regress?

Regress to what? He only has 1 year in the NCAA, what would he regress to?

Do you mean decline?

Curious case of Josh Hosang? What happened. I thought the Leafs were really interested and he seemed to do well. I never heard or read about any issues while with the Marlies. Did I miss something? They never gave him a chance.
Was a waste of time all around to be honest. Some were really excited. Others dismissed the whole notion. There's nothing impressive about him and I think the Islansers had it spot on.

Lisowsky primary assist from behind the net. Added another assist.

Commits a high sticking penalty. Commits a boarding penalty.

I think he’s better than miettinen. Lisowsky does more of the small things and is not as reliant on his teammates.

Very good hands in transition. Quite physical for a small player. Has 2-3 hits in the first period.

Lisowsky is receiving top minutes with trevor wong on his line.

He plays the f1 position (what hyman, tverberg does). No way he plays this role in the nhl, but this is good for his development.

He didn’t produce on the powerplay, but he looked very good. Nearly got another primary assist.

Miettinen is a more talented player, but I don't think he gets to show it as often with SCSU. SCSU is mostly comprised of straight-forward, grinding forwards so he is stuck creating a lot of his opportunities on his own unless he wants to go into the tight areas... Which is both not his game and often where his line mates are anyways (so not where he should be).

This year he should at least get consistent top 6 opportunities and line mates, which should hopefully help him stand out a bit more. He has Nylander-lite type potential.

Lisowsky is a guy who should be more off-puck than Miettinen, and does do more of the little things. More Johnsson than Nylander-lite. Different but both are useful. And I think the Leafs can develop both into more two-way threats who can be factors on both the PP and the PK.

We are going to be more than fine with wing prospects going forward.

Didn't come away very impressed with Petruzzelli in the Ottawa pre-season game. Just kind of a warm body. Wonder how the Marlies goalies are going to split time this year between Woll, Kallgren, Petruzelli, maybe Ferguson. Anyone else?

McKay.

Something has to give.
