I too expect sean farrell-esque domination from Moldenhauer next year. Anything less will be disappointing. I am not expecting much from koster because all of minnesota’s defense is returning for some reason. So power play time will be weird.

Weren't most of Minnesota's defence about to turn pro? Thats odd

I see two lists that have Lisowsky (218th pick) ahead of Moldenhauer (95th pick). How does that make any sense? If Lisowsky is a better prospect, wouldn’t the Leafs have drafted him first?
There was a bunch of lists that had him as a 2nd /3rd round talent. Because he is 5'9 he dropped. Sure the Leafs could've drafted him in that range but they probably knew he would drop and that they would be able to snag him later. Same with when we got Miettinen who was a 2nd round talent but dropped to the 6th.

TJ Semptimphelter (what a name), Dylan and Ty Jackson, and a couple others are going to the Leafs dev camp. I'm sure we'll get a lot of these over the next couple days.

Ty and Dylan Jackson (twins) are likely long shots for different reasons, but could be a fun story

I actually liked Nguyen in this year's draft. Glad we're giving him a look.

So far just filler and a Jim Vesey Sr. obsession with Northeastern University.

McGurn is a fringe AHL contract candidate for next year. He should be a good OAer for London in the OHL, but may not be good enough to be an AHL contract guy. Could do worse for filler though.

I feel like there are better "small forward" options than Nguyen out of that 04' class.

We need LD in camp and Larsen is a fairly good one.

I do not really know what he is in the NHL though. He has solid understanding in his own end and his reach certainly helps him, but he needs work on his skating when defending the rush and he is more of an offensive specialist than a stay-at-home guy. His speed is pretty good, but his agility and four-way mobility will need a fair bit of work.

His offense is where he stands out (beyond his size). Nice, hard shot. Solid puck mover on the blueline (to the point where he could realistically be a PP guy at the pro level).

There are actually a fair number of similarities between him and Samuel Mayer, who I did have ranked fairly high. Mayer has a lot of nastiness in his game, however, whereas Larsen does not use his size nearly as much as he should.

Here is from Brock Otten:
Kasper Larsen - Mississauga Steelheads
A first year defender from Denmark, Larsen was terrific for the Steelheads this year. He formed a great partnership with Ethan Del Mastro on Mississauga's top pairing and also quarterbacked the powerplay. The 6'6 Dane has good offensive instincts, which is what makes him a capable powerplay QB. His footwork really improved over the course of the year too. While he's a big guy and can play a physical game, he's truly more of a puck mover and stronger in the offensive zone currently. Which would probably surprise people given his profile. Wouldn't shock me at all to see him selected this year and I'd approve of that.

He is the most promising invite by a wide margin thus far, but still a massive project (in more ways than one).

Nice to be inviting these guys to camp for free instead of spending high 2nds on them in deep drafts.

Is tj going to his third different college in 3 years?
Only his second. Northeastern -> Arizona State

The "National Collegiate Development Conference" he played in two years ago is more akin to a training academy-style league, a minor junior league that serves as a stepping stone between high school leagues and college. It's a wrung below USHL, similar level-ish to the NAHL, in the US. A little more similar to drafting from the Junior 'A' BCHL, AJHL or OJHL in Canada

Watching some games and highlights I don’t know how people have Lisowsky lower than Minten. A lot of you have Minten ranked way too high and Lisowsky ranked way too low. Lisowsky has a cannon of a shot, is a fantastic skater, can make plays. He might be the best pick out of the 5. I see the most NHL upside with him. He’s just small. But he is a natural goal scorer

Haven't kept track of who has been invited where but here is a list of guys from each league I wouldn't mind inviting.

So it looks like with the capspace available, prospects will get a good look this year. I'm guessing the ones who will get a look are:
robertson
holmberg
anderson
steeves
abruzzese

And Knies will come later in the year, I suppose. Will be good if 1 or even 2 of them can get a spot.

Pure speculation:

In terms of draft pedigree, one would think ryan johnson would try the ahl. When i saw minnesota 2 years ago, i thought koster had better iq than him but worse tools. Koster is definitely a 4 year ncaa project (bulking up and maximizing hockey iq development, and perhaps receive offensive opportunity that he will not probably get).

Faber strikes me as the kind of guy who would leave after a monster season, which is unlikely to come due to opportunity. Jackson lacombe had a pretty good offensive season, but he’s also staying.

They’re a bunch of young dmen who arrived at a similar time who can play offense, but the opportunity is divided. I guess most of them want to win a ncaa championship before leaving.

Morrison already was invited to Dallas Stars camp. I would have liked for him to be invited to our camp as well.

The Marlies defense is softer than a baby's ass now. Hopefully, the FA market has a thumper or two to add to the group.

Not really a thumper, but there is talk above, about having invited Kasper Larsen to the development camp. Dude is 6'6", so if he sticks, that is at least some size back there.

I'm not sure he's old enough to play in the AHL. I think he likely goes back to junior. He does look like a potential ELC candidate though.
