you're kidding, but 1 point in 5 games in the Finnish league is very underwhelming production and worse than Hirvonen
Habs really messed up his development. There's no way he should have been in the NHL right away.

Another year in Assat at least, maybe 2, then some AHL time (another year) would have did him wonders.

I think this guy gets his info from HFBoards
How can the NCAA or whoever enforce the eligibility rules if they're cancelling the season? How does that benefit the kids? I understand if he were to go to Europe he wouldn't be able to attend classes or whatever, but schedule notwithstanding this is a time when NCAA eligibility rules should be temporarily pushed aside

It's really interesting that Hirvonen, Nielela, Kokkonen, and Rindell are all on their respective teams' top lines and Rasanen is the #7 defenseman for his team

Rasanen has played higher than #7 in some games.

What sucks for him is that HPK's only halfway respectable defensemen right now play on the right side. When they've had their good LD in the lineup, he plays higher.

Because they have a very favourable system right now and they don't want to give it up.

The NCAA is a great for guys who do not have pro aspirations, but for guys with pro aspirations, it sucks. Hockey is at least a little bit nicer since a guy can just leave if he wants to turn pro, and the only thing with Abruzzese is that he wants to be able to maintain his Harvard education but still somehow play hockey. It is a rare situation that is kind of killing him right now.

It made no sense taking him 3rd OA in the first place. Questionable top-10 pick IIRC.
they really had to reach to get a top center, and now it looks like they have that anyway in Suzuki. Kotkaniemi will likely be a decent #2 center at best, which is a nice player but undoubtedly not worth the #3 pick. Especially if you look at someone like Quinn Hughes

I think you gotta hope at this point he turns into a decent 2C. His defensive ability has been there at times, but the offense has been almost non-existent.... AND its following him outside the NHL.

True enough.

Basically they were desparate for a young 1st line centre so they reached to take the closest thing they could find, then doubled down on the reach by forcing him into the NHL when he clearly wasnt ready.

COVID is in a way the best thing to happen for the kid. Can potentially correct his own development path playing in Liga this year.

Maybe, but a player you draft 3rd overall you don't leave in Europe for 3 years, and it's not like Montreal's scouts are the only ones that thought he was already NHL material.

11:30AM EST - Rindell (Liiga)
- 19:02 TOI, did not get on the board

11:30AM EST - Niemela (Liiga)
- 20:31 TOI, did not get on the board

11:30AM EST - Hollowell (Mestis)

12:00PM EST - Kokkonen (U20 SM-sarja)

Schningoethe got a goal today. Dunno how to watch ushl games yet.

Fusco has not started ushl games yet and joe miller is projected to play tomorrow (ushl games have been cancelled due to corona hot spots).

ryan tverberg has 4 pts in 6 pre-season games. Two assists today.

qmjhl standings are going to be interesting. Does this mean that saint john plays fewer games near the end of the season?

Schingoethe's goal was an empty-netter.

QMJHL will likely go based on point percentage. Saint John has won the last two in a row, but they've been pretty bad before that and are near the bottom of the Maritime Division right now.
