Very strange. Does anyone on here know why this may be? Did UFA not want to loan him out?
Probably because of a lacklustre performance he and the Russians put up at the WJC. I don't think these guys deserve to be on the world stage for Russia for a while. They have plenty of other guys to pull.

a few other guys from the WJC were invited, like Podkolzin and Khusnutdinov. Amirov was Russia's best forward in his last men's tournament, so it's a bit weird

Could be Ufa didn't want to make him available. St. Petersburg has been treating Podkolzin the same sort of way as Amirov this year, but he is almost certainly leaving them after this year and may be starting to plan on life after Podkolzin. Amirov is likely staying in Russia for another year.

Also Ufa doesn't have the kind of depth that St. Petersburg has. Better high end, but less depth. Khusnutdinov was hardly playing in the KHL so he was no big loss either.

ya I mean he was not as good as Podkolzin in my mind, but he was certainly better than khusnutdinov. If I am not mistaken, he was selected as one of the top 3 players for team Russia at the tournament, which again if i am not mistake was selected by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. SO it is highly unlikely he is fallen out of favor with the federation. But nothing would really surprise me when it came to the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. This was the group claiming Abramov was not good enough to play the opening 2 games of the tournament, when he was one of their best players. They tend to do stuff purely out of spite, wouldn't surprise me if there was an element of that somewhere. I just dont think it was because of Rodian's play at the WJC

Giddy up.

Does anyone know what the callup protocols would be? I know we have a taxi squad, and those are likely the player that we would like to swap in. But i am specifically thinking Timmy. If we were to send him to the AHL to get games in, and god forbid our right side gets decimated, how long would Timmy have to isolate before getting into game action? is it even possible for a player to go from the AHL to NHL/TaxiSquad this year?

The AHL team isn't leaving Canada.

I don't think Ufa is playing any games during the tournament, so I'm not sure this is why. It didn't seem like things were good between him and Larianov towards the end of the WJC, so that could have something to do with it

Oh well, then maybe the Leafs bring him over next year.

He's surprisingly gritty for his size and skill level, it's a mixture of tools you don't see everyday

He was one of the few good picks I made in that WJC pool
It's kind of odd his underlying numbers have fallen off big time though. The eye test looks good.

he's really starting to heat up it looks like. Seems like he's been putting up more points since returning from the WJC. He still has the blue bucket on which means he is the leading point scorer for U20 players in the SM-Liiga. Anyone on here have eliteprospects premium to see what his production has been post WJC? I can't see his game logs without the premium subscription

edit: Looks like 5pts in last 10 games from when he came back from the WJC. SO maybe not as big of a heater as I thought

He's the exact mirror opposite of Hallander, if only we could combine they're best traits somehow and Frankenstein this *****

I do wonder if we're starting to see the effects of a long season on a young guy playing in a good men's league, I think he will be better for this moving forward imo

Nothing like learning to grind over a long season to harden a kid

I think it's wishful thinking on my part but I'm praying we have a future Hyman type guy in Tverberg.
There’s something really interesting to me about the Tverberg pick. They obviously had a big book on the player having played in their back yard. So much so that they felt it necessary to trade this years 7th round pick to acquire the additional pick used to select him. Extremely odd given the fact that there were only 4 picks remaining in the draft. My assumption is that they projected him to have a big year in the NCAA and re-enter the draft as a 20yo and felt they would not be able to get a player of his caliber that late in this years draft. My assumption is that our staff feel like he has been flying under the radar playing in Jr-A vs Major Junior. I can’t say I am overly familiar with his game cuz I have not been able to watch a full game of his. But from the clips I have seen, he looks like he works really hard, and competes. That’s a skill set that is hard to teach. Very interested to see how he develops

I saw him play in the second period today. He’s the only f1 (the position that hyman plays) in the leafs organization. He’s also the most physical prospect we have. I have him ahead of schingoethe, fusco, and miller (only seen him play once though). Even if he didn’t have 5 points in 9 games, i’d still have him ahead of those guys. His line always seems to drive play in the offensive zone and i saw him using stick picks today. He also displayed good stickhandling, keeping the puck away from the other team. He strikes me as the kind of guy who can continually add details to his game. My only issue with him is that when he has the puck, he seems to skate a lot slower with it, but hopefully that gets corrected. I really like his intangibles.
