Preliminary thoughts on joe miller for his first game back:
- crashes the net a lot. A lot. He is able to crash the net a lot because his timing is very good. In the game I watched, he didn't get boxed off much or didn't get ragdolled so this is a guy who knows how to pick his spots
- his skating is ok. However, when he is not crashing the net, he struggles to support the L1 or L2 and doesn't get enough puck touches. Miettinen, another f3, is much better at finding open space to unleash his shot
- for a very small guy, he doesn't get his a** kicked, methinks he has a strong centre of gravity or a wrestling background
- when he does have space, he shows pretty good set of hands
- the problem is that he rarely has enough space: what makes SDA (also a small prospect) projectable is his fast decision-making and therefore does not need much space, jack miller is decent at decision-making, but not as good as SDA
- he is a skill pick. He will probably need the full four years in minnesota
- he plays on chicago, which is a powerhouse team who employs belfry. It felt like even though he was on the 2nd line, he didn't play much. Also, there were instances where I saw his line (pasternak and fantilli, but i couldn't find miller). The first line of Farrell, Doan received the majority of playing time.
