I've really liked Holmberg and Clifford so far in the playoffs for the Marlies. Clifford has been all over the ice, he's on a checking line with Holmberg and Johnstone, he's playing on the PK, he's playing very physical and he's been a threat to score. Holmberg has been at center and is also on the PK. His ability to create chances and his individual skill is pretty high in comparison to the others, I'm surprised he doesn't finish more of those chances. That duo stand out in good way when they're out there.

In the first round Kallgren came in and stole the show for the last 2 games for the Marlies to advance. He sucks again this round. But, I'm feeling pretty good about Joseph Woll coming in and doing the same.

It makes me quite happy to see Clifford embracing his role with the Marlies and actually being one of our better playoff performers

Niemela scored, this kid looks really promising. Could be nhl ready next season but a permanent roster spot is unlikely due to waivers.

What Marlies are eligible for the Growlers run?

EDIT
Nevermind, the ECHL actually made that really easy to find..!

Growlers' submitted playoff roster including eligible additions:

Newfoundland Growlers - Luke Cavallin, G; Dryden McKay G; Matt Hellickson, D; Tommy Miller, D; Adam Holwell, D; Michael Joyaux, D; Simon Kubicek, D; Brennan Kapcheck, D; Zach Solow, F; Orrin Centazzo, F; Derian Plouffe, F; Zach O'Brien, F; Jack Badini, F; Nolan Walker, F; Isaac Johnson, F; Brett Budgell, F; Keenan Suthers, F; Todd Skirving, F; Pavel Gogolev, F; Brandon Kruse, F

Reserve List - Jonny Tychonick, D
Playoff Eligible List - Tyler Boland, F; Keith Petruzzelli, G; Mikko Kokkonen, D; Chris Martenet, D; Matteo Pietroniro, D; Ryan Chyzowski, F

Woll was not sharp. Other than the one ugly goal he got beat a few times by long open shots.

The season really went south in late March where there had been looking like surprise Calder Cup contenders this season. There are still several interesting prospects to follow on the team going into next season. I like the defense prospects in particular. Niemela may not be in the AHL for very long.

According to this Russian site, Akhtyamov is signing an extension with Kazan (VK.com | VK). This site also had Peksa to the Leafs about a week before Toronto officially announced the signing, so this is probably legit.

I find this to be surprising considering Kazan just extended their back-up Miftakhov to return with their starter, and those were the only two guys who saw any game action last season. Unless Kazan plans to loan Akhtyamov out, he would once again be stuck in the VHL, and I don't think he has anything left to prove there. What he needs is to go to a different KHL team and just play a lot (IMO). As far as options go, Astana and Minsk currently have no goalies under contract while CSKA, Ufa, Kunlun, Magnitogorsk and Nizhny Novgorod have just 1, Sochi is returning the two main guys they played who got them to a last place finish, and Yekaterinberg seems to be promoting their 22yo 3rd stringer to back-up. Any other spot, he would have to beat out an established (at least somewhat) KHLer.

Good for Grebyonki, and great for us. Interesting that he beat out Michkov's 20 points in 30 games, with his 26 points in 45 games. Now I've noticed that Michkov wasn't even a finalist. I wonder what the criteria is there??

wonder if Michkov might not be considered a rookie, played 13 games the year before

Seems odd,but you'd have to assume he sees an opportunity to play if he decided to sign. Hope that proves to be the case.

Rookie of the year in the 2nd best league in the world. Not to mention the KHL is a very tough league for a kid his age to even get regular minutes. Very impressive stuff.

He's skyrocketed our prospect board this year.

To me, Greb and Woll have been the 2 best stories this season in terms of our prospects. Obvoiusy you gotta throw Knies and Voit in there, but I feel like their production was more predictable. I had all but written Woll off, and Grebyonkin just seemed like a typical late round Russian pick that would amount to nothing. A la Seymon Kizimov and Vladislav Kara.

Although, coincidently both Seymon and Vlad seemed to finally make an impact at the KHL level this season as well. So maybe I shouldn't throw the dirt on their coffins yet either.

Nonetheless, really excited to continue tracking Grebyonkin
