Cowan has a lot to learn, if people think Nylander is lazy Cowan is much worse. He's been one of the worst players on the ice every game almost

That's a pretty wild take. One of his best attributes from even before his draft year was his energy level. A few games at this tournament won't change that where the team has been struggling mightly as a whole.

He's not been as good as I've seen him but he's been far from the worst player on the ice lol Hyper focusing his every shift

Cowan is so obviously a good player. He’s trying to make skill plays and has the gumption to try and take the team on his shoulders. That’s a good thing.

But holy shit is he so obviously already a Toronto Maple Leaf who is inside his own head with visions of destiny. Trying to be the guy, trying to make the highlight play against the hated rival that will play on reels forever. Just play the damn game.

I think he’s an NHL’er, probably a solid one, but if if he thinks he’s Mitch Marner we’re going to have problems.

Cowan is going to get eaten alive by his play this tournament from non leaf fans

You don't remember Matthews and Marner during their WJC tournament for being Leafs prospects

Matthews every play was scrutnized, especially by Jets fans

Cown hasn't been the same in a while. He's also just coming off injuries

Problem is we have produced Celebrini, Bedard last few years. Everyone thinks unless you are at their level, you are a flop
A lot of great players has had poor WJC showing

On that flip side, a lot of player looked liked they were going to be stars, ended up flopping out. Remember Dawes, Introneuvo?

Cowan will fit right in as a Leaf. Can't score when he is really needed and takes stupid ass penalties at the wrong time!

I would trade him in a package for a 2nd line center that our Leafs desperately need.

I like the WJC because it's good hockey. The same way college football is often more entertaining than the NFL, because these kids play exciting hockey. Their verve hasn't been ground down by days and days of systems systems systems.

But I find myself struggling to give much of a shit. Canada probably won't win this year...so? They'll win at least one in the next 3.

Cowan looks good running the PP, and that's about it this tournament. He and the rest of them are going to f*** it up by trying too much cutesy shit and taking too many penalties. Rehkopf(?) Would have had his ass stapled to the bench on my team for taking two back to back penalties.

The best thing that can happen for Cowen is two years in the AHL. That or we move him for something that helps us win now. I have seen nothing that says he would be a Tuukka Rask type error.

Why give up on players before they stagnate or regress? Yeah, sometimes the jump in improvement isn't what you hope for, but it's forward progress. Keep with it and see where that gets you. Justin Holl, Mason Marchment, Bobby McMann...their stats in the AHL weren't eye popping but they were generally better than the previous year, and better than the previous year, and better than the previous year...etc.

Same with Brazeau.

Abruzzese? Not so much.
The Leafs never had him on a contract.
