Niemela might have a NHL future, but I doubt it's on a Treliving/Bertube team. Hirvonen likely ends up back in Europe at some point.... He's a RFA, so they might extend him as Marlies depth, and just in case he suddenly finds enough game to be a NHL player... but I doubt that happens.
Thanks for that.

I have followed the stories of a few Marlies, but I have not watched these players play. My take on the tiers in our prospect pool is that we have a "next group" of Hirvonen, Tverberg, Quillan, Rifai, and Niemela. Yet they didn't get the call even with all of our injuries, I guess Rifai did sort of. Do these guys all need another year in the A or have they maxed out?

I don’t think there is a rush on any of these guys if they are developing and trending in the right direction. Quillan is a first year pro. I’ve never seen him play but if Tre likes him as a possible future bottom 6 leaf then I trust his judgement. It may or may not pan out but he gets more time to develop

I think Tverberg has the chance to be a energy guy, but he's going to need to take a step forward next year. I think Rifai has a chance, but again, needs to take a step forward... there isn't much offense from the D on the Marlies at the moment.

It sure would've been nice to have the next pick (Cuylle) instead of Hirvonen. Oh well!

Which Marlies HAVE taken a step forward this year?
It’s a fair question.
Greb and Minten probably fit in that category though injury has kinda force fed them NHL minutes.
It’s a veteran team. Not full of impact guys at the NHL level, but theres a good handful who could fit at the bottom of the roster.
Steeves game has rounded out this year.
Quillan could end up in this category. There’s nothing he isn’t doing, other than converting on offense. He’s good for one or two dangerous chances a game with 3rd/4th line AHL talent.
As mentioned, Tverberg could in time, but his production has dipped and he hasn’t played with too much of a chip on his shoulder either.

Marlies play today at 6.
AA and MM got the weekend starts with Murray pulled and DH playing most of Saturday.
Haven’t heard anything about Murray, so maybe a start for AA.
Hope Grebs suits up.

I think this was a very successful and important first time up with the leafs. Coaching staff raved about him, other teams seemed to hate him and he had a f***in blast despite not scoring haha.

Most important is that Chief likes the kid and that's just a great sign.

I hoped he would get spotted in the NHL this year.

It won't hurt him to know what he has to improve upon.

I know some think it is the end of the world if a player is yo-yo'd.
I'm not one of them.
A player cannot measure himself against NHL players in the AHL.
