These 3 could be all competing for spots next year
.
Tverberg is my dark horse for a 4th line spot in the next 2 years.
He seems like a prototypical bottom 6 winger with all the necessary intangibles.
Unless Robertson turns its around quickly, I think he will be moved by next year.
With injuries or moving Robertson, Grebenkin could even see ice time this year. Yes, he's only 21, but has been playing professionally in the KHL and has good size.
Next year unless there is turnover, the roster is still pretty full.
Depending on how this year goes, Paccioretty could return.
Hers hoping Grebyonkin is the 2nd coming of Knies.Unless Robertson turns its around quickly, I think he will be moved by next year.
I already thought his days were numbered as a Leaf when you have Cowan and Grebs in the pipeline.
Grebs is a guy that can easily play up and down the lineup, so soon or later he will get his chance.
He had such an optimistic showing in preseason, only to turn into a ghost in the regular season...Unless Robertson turns its around quickly, I think he will be moved by next year.

I'm not sure they are veteran heavy. Couple young goalies, some young D, and up front Minten, Hirvonen, Quillan, Greb, Tverberg. I like the mix.The Marlies are "veteran" heavy but it's nice having a kids line like that. Tverberg is pretty underrated, just needs to stay healthy.

Based on? He had a good rookie season last year and has continued to improve so far this year.Anybody watching the Marlies care to give any update on Niemela? Seems like the guy burst onto the scene a few years ago and hasn't been able to grow his game at all for the last 2 or 3 years.
Definitely a bit concerning that our entire top 4 dmen are over 30 and it looks like we have no good D prospects in the pipeline for the next few years...

With that being said, Berube might have already made up his mind based on his height.
What a snipe
He may be no better than Lily.I have a feeling he won't ever get an opportunity with the Leafs.
I wonder what happens when you trade all your picks? The prospects haven't been too exciting to follow this year.
OK mr glass is half fullHere is what we have. Cowan,Grebs,Minten, Danford, Chadwick and a goalie pipeline. Now go look at all the teams beneath us. We have no first rounder this year. See if you can guess what happens in 2 years when our whole team is 30 plus. We will look like Pitts minus the cups.

Fixed it for you.OK mr glass is halffullempty.
We also have extra bodies that will likely be traded and recoup a couple of picks. No not 1st round, at least I'm not expecting one.
Lots can be done with lower round picks.
If only one or two (hoping for two) of the above players hit that will be enough to cycle some players out.
The Leafs will not be lacking for talent, when they want it, they can always spend to the cap and get players. Many examples of hits and misses there.

If you havnt been watching the Marlies lately I dont think you are in a position to say Niemela “hasn’t been able to grow his game at all” I’ve noticed him making a lot of smart plays and exiting the zone well. Hes also gotten stronger.Anybody watching the Marlies care to give any update on Niemela?
