When your entire post is about how management sucks and not the person that is in the wrong, you clearly just have an agenda.

Yes. Management does suck. And this just adds to the list.

Needing Leafs Twitter to find dirt on a recent hire exemplifies that.

Change Matthews to anyone else outside of possibly the other members of the"core four" and they would have been gone in 2 seconds.

What a joke.
Yep. Either the rules apply to everyone or they're useless.

Very few places left for racists to hide and now the trolls are lashing out under the guise of "cancel culture" this is a culture that should have been in place A LONG time ago
You do realize that gays and blacks and jews etc or whatever flavour of the day was to hate were the cancelled culture right. You really don’t see that do you. Ok den

Yeah, let's just ignore we live in a meritocracy, and people are treated unequally due to their skill-level/value to an organization. Let alone one player is governed by a collectively bargained agreement, and the other isn't.

In a public-facing organization like the Leafs? Yes. Especially when you've tied your branding to inclusivity.
I doubt it. I work for a public facing org. One of the biggest in Canada and my org don't even know Twitter profiles until long after ppl are hired. I think, I'm not part of HR.

If you know it could create an offence where you would have to fire someone because it's a PR/Branding nightmare, it would be foolish not to do it. Easy thing to do is find this stuff out and never interview the candidate. Now, not only do you take the PR hit, there are likely customers who support this guys views who are now alienated who would have never known if they just never hired him.

Tony dangelo and virtanen had their contracts bought out.

Very true. They'll take the hit. Don't think it will be that big of a hit though.

It's a new world now. People in any profession really shouldn't express their opinions regarding controversial subjects on social media or they can jeopardize their careers.

Just limit it to private conversations.
His “opinions” were covid denial anti vaccination garbage on top of bigotry and a pro over throw the government because my guy didn’t win sort of opinions.

The reality is his viewpoints are likely shared by many of your favourite players. They just aren't stupid enough to expose it to the world. Anyways, not like he was actively spreading any of this conspiracy stuff. He was just liking it, like millions of others. Should they all be fired from their jobs? Denied the opportunity to provide food for their families? A person's political beliefs should not be considered when getting hired, just like their religious beliefs. As long as he doesn't promote this shit on the job, there should be no problem

Go ask black players under bill peters if his political beliefs wound up impacting them.

So an accused rapist and a guy who got into a fight with his own goalie? After getting suspended in juniors for slurs? Yes, very comparable to the Matthews situation.....
1) Exposing yourself to a security guard,.especially a female one, is a pretty serious charge.

2) contracts can be bought out if the org is serious about getting rid of a player.

It was a public nuisance charge, so no, it isn't pretty serious. Considering it was handled by a diversion program. But whatever. You are clearly just trying to score internet points over having an actual discussion. We live in a meritocracy with equality factored in. Which means if you are valuable enough stupid shit will be tolerated. That doesn't work for an AHL goalie coach.

It would be a sad day if humanity ever came to that; where people are hired not based on competence but "belief systems" either on religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation, etc....

As long as they don't promote or propagate their belief system at work; denying someone an opportunity to earn bread for their family is actually a strike against a basic fundamental human right... i.e. food, water, clothing and shelter.

I wish the entire world's belief system was science and facts... it would be so much easier

Hey how would you feel if a 200 lb 6'2 man and two friends, all drunk, tried to break into your wife's, mother's, sister's or daughter's car in the middle of the night? What Matthews did was 200x worse than what prevented Dusty Imoo from getting a job

Yes they lowered the charge. Happens all the time to previleged athletes.
