He had his face smashed in during a fight in the KHL. Last season I think it was Ryan Malone wanted to fight him over a hit but Staubitz jumped in from the bench because Emelin not allowed to fight, as in career ending possibilty. Im guessing thats why the cage, punch it if you want.

He also got elbowed in the face in the KHL during the lockout.

He's getting 11:59 minutes / game and 1 minute PP time.

Galchenyuk is getting 12:05 minutes / game and 2 minutes PP time.

Pretty comparable if you ask me.

Its awesome for these two guys to enter the league together, to both make the team and room together in a hotel for this long. It will be awesome if they both stick.

Never saw him wear the cage last year and was wondering about it. So he will continue to wear it for the rest of the season?

Wow Emelin with 27 mins played. I am amazed how we have played so far. Havent seen that much enthousiasm by the players on the Habs for long time. I am quite excited!!! Go! Habs! Go!
