Mark Stone the Headhunter

He elbowed that Montreal player in the head and boarded Pominville head first into the boards while Pominville was prone and trying to get up off the ice.

And Zetterberg nailed Pageau in the head.

If they're trying to "crack down" on headshots - they're late and still failing pretty hard at it.

I would agree, but I think that's what is happening.

My other theory is they hate Melnyk xD

The NHL is proving itself more and more to be an incompetent bush league (no insult intended to the bush leagues). People shouldn't get fooled, it's a market driven business and not really a pure sport. Many decisions defy logic and common sense because fans use the wrong measuring stick. It's not about fairness or equal treatment. Everything is calculated based on markets, tv/radio media and sales revenue where the almighty dollar rules and in a some cases a bit of an old insider buddy buddy system.

Think WWE and their intentionally comic referees and you will laugh along at the show instead of getting upset at seemingly idiotic decisions made by the NHL. It's much better if you make it a take it or leave it pastime activity.

......and that Sportscenter tweet really made a point of using the most sinister photo of Stone they could find, didn't they? He almost looks like a Bond villain in that tweet.

Dude, Stone looks like a Bond villain in almost all of his pictures. They didn't have to look too far to get this one.

Edit: Oh, and thanks to Choco for giving me the idea and title for my new avy. ;)

But we're big buffs hits to the head? Or just not cool hits?

I'm telling you nhl gets sued every year over concussions. They are really gonna crack down due to law suits.

Isn't there just a single lawsuit because the way the NHL swept proof that concussions cause permanent damage under the rug?

Well with the above comment in mind players should start suing if there is a clear discrepancy between decisions.

This is truth. Too much money involved to simply allow these players to be reffed fairly. And if I was in charge of the NHL, I wouldn't do anything differently... theres simply more at stake then so and so player being suspended or this or that team winning.. big picture

I think Mark Stone's suspension and the lack of suspension to Zetterberg has been a rallying point for the team. Nothing like a bit of adversity to bring the guys together. The league is not doing us any favor and the team said "fine, we don't need it". Now they just beat to good teams in a row and played their best hockey of the season so far without their best forward. Getting a motivated Mark Stone back will only add to this.

I think I remember 200 players suing in 2013, Montador's family is Suing, in 2014 another group of players filed against the nhl and I'm pretty sure there are 60 former players suing them right now(but this one sounds more like for legal bills).

Just google sue nhl concussion

Hamonic is second behind Stone in puck thievery. Why isn't Ottawa on the sweepstake (Dreger makes no mention of the Sens being a potential suitor in the Sens broadcast last night)? He is the type of defenceman this team needs to advance. Cowen+Prospect+High Pick.

Harmonic wants to go to western canada due to family reasons.

He wants to go home (near Winnipeg). I am guessing we are too far east.

Because the only reason he wants to move from Brooklyn is because he wants to get closer to home and Ottawa is just as far as Brooklyn to Manitoba. There literally 0 chance that he'd even entertain a trade to Ottawa. Winnipeg is easily his best option, since it's only about an hour drive away from his hometown. Calgary is 13h, while Ottawa is 22h and Brooklyn 25h...

Easy. They should trade Buff for Hamonic. They'll lose Buff anyways this off season.

Sucks balls, I still hope Murray tries to pursuade his agent with sweet talks* about how great this city is for him and his family.

*Provided you can lie in your sweet talks

If Hamonic wanted to stay on the East coast, he would just stay with the Islanders. He apparently loves the org.

We have a zero point zero percent chance of even being in the conversation on Hamonic.

Isles won't want to do that. They'll likely lose Buff at the end of the season and he'll ask for a ton of money while Hamonic in under contract until 2020 at 3.8M. He's a young cost controlled guy that can play on a 1rst pair, I don't think Snow would want to trade that for a UFA. I'd bet he tries to go after Myers or Trouba, maybe he has a chance for Myers but I see no chance of getting Trouba out of the Peg.

It's a tough situation for Snow, especially since he's gone long ways yo acquire Boychuk and Leddy to make his defense better and now that he has a very good defense he needs to trade of of his best defensemen. NYI likely would want to compete for the cup, they have a very good team, so I'm guessing he wont want futures either. There's just no possible way he gets fair value player for player IMO and teams know that.

That's an interesting idea, does leading the league in takeaways make you a Selke favourite? I would never have really associated the two that strongly, although obviously it is a great skill and defensively important. Im just not sure its exactly the focus i would have thought of when voting on the Selke. Maybe i should be giving it more weight, at the very least as a leading indicator. It was sure a big part of what made Datsyuk so great, but on its own i wouldnt have thought it enough.
