ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!

Whatever. Get rid of them both. Give the red meat to the masses and bring on the new problems

It's like a friggin' soap opera. Haha.

I feel like this whole problem just epitomizes the Rangers' problems this season. Star players not playing well, and the coaching hasn't helped.

Andrew Gross @AGrossRecord
Toward the end of practice, Gaborik and coach John Tortorella had a 12-minute coach-player discussion along the sideboards near the bench.

Torts did most of the talking. It never appeared to get heated but there were times when Gaborik didn't seem to be looking at Torts

oh ****

Are u shocked? Torts doesn't put people in their best spot to succeed unless he's got a hard on for them

The only "rebuild" needed here is a new coach. Your telling me we don't have enough offensive talent to be shut out 5 Times? ??

Nash has had no problem producing in Torts' system.

Gaborik scored 41 last year, Richie had 25G 41A, under the exact same system. Torts deserves blame but 90% of Richards and Gaborik's poor play is on them.

Some of the blame is the players agreed. But you honestly think Gaborik has been put in great positions to succeed this year honestly? LW... 3rd line RW with boyle.. 4TH LINE RW that he practiced at today? This coach has never used his players talents right since we got him.

I'd say it's half and half for Gaborik.

Tortorella isn't putting him in a position to succeed, Gaborik has played 10+ years in this league and has played at RW every single year. He shouldn't be changed. Callahan should be playing wit the 3rd line so Gaborik can play at RW. Callahan can produce there better than Gaborik can produce at LW.

Doesn't excuse Gaborik for "giving up", though. It's definitely frustrating, but if you show the coach you're trying to succeed, maybe he'll keep him at RW and move Cally down.

I think the last sentence of your statement there is a bit harsh.

I think part of the reason why Gaborik has struggled has been his play on the LW, which is why I'd put together a line of Kreider - Richards - Gaborik (RW) as my 2nd line. I'll agree that Torts' biggest error this year has been his shuffling of the lines.

Still, do you really think Gaborik is putting in 100%, or even 75%, effort night in and night out? He's not using his speed, he's not playing with any life (or JAM), he's lifeless and floating throughout the entire game. Playing on the other side of the ice is no excuse for that.

The reason why I'm hard on Gabby is because I know he's so much BETTER than what he's been this year. He's a superstar when he's on his game. He has the ability, he's gotta find it in himself to get out of his slump.

hate to say it but I think he's given up playing for this guy anymore. And I don't think he's the only one sadly

Seems like the Gabby situation is on Torts and Gabby (obviously).
Torts isn't putting Gabby in the places he feels he should be and is probably caring less?

If I was in Gabby's shoes I probably would be getting tired of the constant line juggling and being put on my off wing.

Sure you can. Playing him on the LW is dumb but Gaborik isn't doing himself any favors. Also, enough with this "gritty system is killing him" mentality. It's the same thing when he scored 41 last year and was the same thing when he had a career best season two years ago.

The first season Gaborik was here we had no system. All I'm gonna say is that if Gaborik played on offensively minded team, like Pittsburgh, he would tear **** up. Gaborik can't play the boards effectively which is what Torts' system thrives on. His inability to thrive seems to have taken all the life out of him. He doesn't even look like he wants to be on this team, and its due to the coaching.

I've seen a lot of the Rangers this season and just can't quite believe what I'm seeing from Gabby. It pains me to say it but he is clearly not as motivated or as interested as he has been the previous few years.

As other's have touched upon, I think a lot of that is due to Torts moving him to LW where he clearly isn't comfortable at all. With that being said though, for someone who's on $7.5 mill per season, he should be putting in as much effort as he humanly can.

Some? How about MOST of the blame is on the players. These guys are professionals, why do we act like the coach is out there playing the game for them?

When Gaborik scored 7 goals through his first 11 or 12 games to start the season, where were you guys complaining that he was playing on the wrong side of the ice and couldn't be effective? How did he manage 7 goals through those 11 or 12 games if he was being 'used wrong'???

Now that he's got just 2 goals in his last 20 or so games, all I'm hearing is excuse after excuse about how most of the blame is on Tortorella's shoulders when even the casual observer can see how Gaborik is not skating hard enough and not playing with the intensity level required to be effective out on the ice. Whose fault is that? Is Tortorella to blame for Gabby's poor skating now too? How about his less than desirable effort? Is Gabby sulking because he's on an unfamiliar side of the ice and can't mentally cope with the challenge?

I'm getting real tired of the never-ending excuses for a supposed 'elite' forward soaking up $7.5 mil in cap space. The only person Gaborik has to blame for his atrocious season that he's having is HIMSELF. Richards has been crap for the majority of the season too but you don't see people deflecting the blame to Tortorella for that, why is that?

:shakehead

If I was being paid $7.5 mil a year to produce offense for an Original 6 franchise I would be busting my *** on the ice and playing with the same intensity level of Callahan or Hagelin.... There's no excuse for being 'tired' or 'frustrated' when you're being paid that kind of money to produce and contribute. Is Gaborik a professional or a primadonna who needs the perfect coach, the perfect system and can only produce offense on just one side of the ice while being impotent on the other?

This would be a perfect torts quote... you put the guys in the best position to win. You don't make them play the hockey YOU as the coach want them to. Stop trying to fit a circle in a square hole

So 2 goals in 20 or so games is because Gaborik can't score from anywhere but the right-side of the ice? Got it.

The problem with torts right now is he treats some players differently than others..

JT miller constantly does dumb stuff with the puck, throwing it up the middle, blind passes.. But never gets benched... Kreider looks at the puck the wrong way and hes riding the pine.

Richards has been brutal and he does everything he can to get him going, meanwhile Gaborik who has been crap no doubt but has been better than richie gets benched all the time.

You cant have one set of rules for some players and not for others, it causes you to lose a locker room and IMO it already has the room divided.

It's either Jam or you're benched.

I say move Gaborik for a top 6 younger fwd (most likely will be a 456 fwd) and a 1st rounder. I'd be happy

This is why Torts needs to be fired

With Gaborik playing like absolute crap right now we'll need to wait until the off-season to try and get a decent return for him.... I can't imagine any teams scouting the Rangers are going to pay a decent price for a Gaborik who's playing like crap this season. Plus if they are in playoff contention they are not going to give us any valuable roster players as part of the return.

If Gaborik has struggled which is true then What would you say about how well Kreider has played

Imo, you do nevva evva evva move the leauges third best scorer from his natural position. You simply don't. For obvious reasons.
