Marian Gaborik

Gaborik has looked very tentative to me this season following his shoulder surgery... The switch to LW certainly hasn't helped him get back in the swing of things...

I'd certainly listen on Gaborik, but I definitely wouldn't give him away. If the right offer isn't there, then I hold him and enjoy his contract year next season...

**** it. White-Knuckle Gaborik for the rest of the season and give him a chance to recuperate this coming off-season.

Sadly I think your right..........If it does happen the guy needs an appreciation thread cause 2 - 40 goal yrs is fantastic.

I think he's going to go somewhere else and light it up but it's just not working this yr. I can see why TSN analysts are saying two bottom 6 F and a Dman is what the Rangers are targeting. Its going to add depth they seem to be lacking

I'd rather have a #1 and a Dman/Top 6 forward

It's going to be phenomenal when we choose Tortorella over Gaborik and he pots 40 in Anaheim while we struggle for a 7 seed next year.

Gaborik can't be blamed for his play, the coaching is horrendous. He clearly isn't comfortable playing the left wing and does not fit the physical gritty system Torts has in place.

I really think they will keep him. A team looking to trade a star would not be playing him on the 4th line. I think his shoulder injury has not helped him. Must be difficult to play on an unsure shoulder. His injury takes a long time than what he has had already to heal. He might have more value now, but that scoring slump is not going to help his cause.

LA could move for him. I don't see much else of a fit if they are not trading him in the East. Canucks maybe. I don't know what the value for a former 40 goal guy that cannt buy one right now is.

Sure you can. Playing him on the LW is dumb but Gaborik isn't doing himself any favors. Also, enough with this "gritty system is killing him" mentality. It's the same thing when he scored 41 last year and was the same thing when he had a career best season two years ago.

Gaborik isn't moving his feet. Period. End of story. He's lethal when he starts moving his feet. He's just flat out not trying hard enough.

I have apologized and apologized for him, giving him excuses like, he's a sniper, he's supposed to disappear, etc. But, flat out, I just don't see him working hard enough. Period. End of Story.

Should he be on the right side? Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, but earlier in the sason, when he, nash, and richards were all clicking, he was moving his feet. Now, he just stands around like a hooker working a corner.

NOT happy with his play at all.

In 2009-10 when he laid an egg down the stretch he obviously was hiding an injury.
In 2010-11 he was so worried about the economy, his play suffered badly.
Last year he was obviously hiding an injury again (ok, so that one turned out to be true).
This year, he's playing the left side, playing with Brian Boyle, and really caught up in this Pope Election.

The poor guy.

Completely fed up with Gabby.

Trade him and whatever reputation he's built for himself, for a consistent hard working 20-25 goal scoring LW. I'd be thrilled. Anything else would be gravy, a pick, whatever, but I don't even need that to be satisfied.

He's bringing the team down with him. It's not even debatable at this point.

If he plays 15 minutes, 5 of them are standing around watching. Not my idea of what a Ranger is.

I have to ask, but where is the line drawn for Gaborik and why does Richards get your pass even though he has clearly been worse? I find it odd.

I am, by no means, giving Richie a pass for this season. He's underachieved tremendously, but I have more faith in Brad Richards. It's hard to explain, I just feel that his clutch play in last year's playoffs is overlooked and conveniently forgotten. Even when Richards is off, he brings more to the table in terms of effort, defensive play, play-making ability, and leadership, than Gaborik does. Gaborik, when right, is more talented than Richards with his scoring ability, but is utterly useless when off. I feel Gabby hasn't shown enough effort this year.

Given their contracts, it would be smart to get some value from Gaborik before his contract expires next year. Richards will most likely be bought out after next season, but I'd rather have him on my team in the playoffs for the next two years than Gaborik. There's no way we resign Gaborik after next year if we keep him. Let's try to get some depth for him to give us a better chance. We also would have extra cap space to sign someone after this year.

Gaborik has played in 253 regular season games for the Rangers.

He has scored a goal in 89 of those games.

A goal every ~2.8 games

Toward the end of practice, Gaborik and coach John Tortorella had a 12-minute coach-player discussion along the sideboards near the bench.

Torts did most of the talking. It never appeared to get heated but there were times when Gaborik didn't seem to be looking at Torts

oh ****

Gaborik doesn't care what Tortorella has to say. Gaborik gets paid no matter what he says. End of story.

whatever at this point. Make a balzy trade. Gaborik is going to score as soon as he leaves.

I think Torts has seriously mishandled Gaborik this season. Not apologizing for his play, but he's been mismanaged.

Gaborik on the fourth line? Ridiculous. I think it would be better to try Cally on the left (not like he does that much scoring at ES) and Gabby on his RW. Boyle on the fourth line.

So:

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Kreider - Richards - Zuccarello
Callahan - miller - Gaborik
Pyatt - Boyle - Newbury

It's like one step forward, two steps back with Torts here. Hell yeah, Gaborik on the right side! Oh, fourth line, never mind. I think it's pretty obvious Gaborik will not be a Ranger on April 4th.

Did Tortorella move Gaborik around as much last season, when he scored 40 goals? I doubt he spent much time on the 4th line, let alone the 3rd line. Most of the time when I see a Rangers game, its Gaborik with guys like Boyle or Callahan... not ideal linemates for a talented off-the-puck sniper like Gaborik. Or is that player long gone?

It's a combination of a lot of things. Torts has never been Gaborik's biggest fan, so when we added Nash and it was discovered that he was better as a RW than a LW, it basically meant that Torts no longer had to put up with Gaborik's inconsistencies because he had a shiny new toy in Nash.

Gaborik is also clearly not comfortable on the left side, but people like to say switching wings isn't a big deal and if he was really an "elite" player he'd simply adapt and this wouldn't be a problem. It's just plain old BS.

He's never needed elite linemates. He scored 40+ with guys like Prospal, Dubinsky, and Erik Christensen on his line. He's simply fallen out of favor, and as a guy who historically doesn't lend himself well to being the whipping boy, he's started mailing it in each night. I think he wants to leave as much as Torts wants him gone.

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!

Whatever. Get rid of them both. Give the red meat to the masses and bring on the new problems
