Confirmed with Link: Marian Gaborik to Columbus for Brassard, J. Moore and Dorsett

In one less game than Gaborik this season, Brassard has 2 less goals, 1 less point, double the hits, is less than half the price and is more than 5 years younger.

Well, now in the same number of games (this one in progress) Brassard has 8 goals and 22 points to Gaborik's 9 goals and 19 points.

with what i know, at the moment, i think gabby was a good ranger and sometimes great. maybe not a great fit, with torts. but this team is waaaaaay different without gabby (and with the new blood). not sure what that means, if anything. but, anyhow, i hope gabby does well and it's a win-win deal.

Plagiarizing myself from the last thread.

So in conclusion,

We got a 3rd line center, who's skills don't translate to centering a 3rd line.

We got yet another solid left handed defenseman who doesn't create offense.

And we finally got Brandon Prust's replacement, but he can't play until the playoffs. The playoffs that we probably won't make.

For Marian Gaborik.

At least for tonight, and hopefully for some time, I'm really enjoying this post.

Wouldn't know. But players can look like they know what they're doing, even on bad teams, and it doesn't sound like Brassard was one of those players. I guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough.

Most of us liked Brass, but no one is terribly upset about him getting a fresh start; just too inconsistent. I think I can also speak for a lot of people when I say we're pleased to see him earn the First Star tonight.

I think a lot of Jackets fans will miss Dorsett the most. I know I will. Kid brought the work and the balls to the rink. Great team guy, ALWAYS fights out of his weight class for the team. Needs to work on some of the untimely penalties, but the dude is a spark.

It's very early but I like the look of the additions. Brassard is a good skilled center. Moore has good size and is a great skater.

Very early? It's one game, where our opponent put up zero effort.

Other than that, we're about to win every game for the rest of the year and roll through the playoffs :D

Yes, we should at least wait until they play a decent team...

One game in and Brassard is making me look like a moron.

I'll take it any day of the week. Kid looked great out there.

Hope he keeps rolling.

I will venture to say that the team prior to yesterday would have lost this game.

I don't think they would have, this Pens team was tired and uninspired from the get go.

Great two point that will mean nothing if they still play .500 or below hockey. I don't think they will, I think this team is still a playoff team. Just don't expect this fluke every night.

Interesting. After the trade, Marian Gaborik's NTC stays in full-effect.

In the Visnovsky situation, the arbitrator ruled that his NTC was waved in an earlier transaction (when Lubomir was traded from the Oilers to the Ducks), thus could be traded again with no NTC limitations.

But, it feels like the pieces now fit together.

In this game the Czech line would have all had hat tricks. Every player for us in this game looked very good, that tells me our guys went from zero to a hundred overnight, OR we were amped off trades, played a tired uninspired team who happens to be missing the worlds best player, and Malkin is like a walking dead cast member currently.

I'm curbing the enthusiasm, a true Ranger fan gets me ;)

We can't discount the Penguins missing:

#1C: Crosby
#1D: Letang
#2D: Martin
